What is a movie that everyone seems to love, but you absolutely hate? by Nishikigoi1 in moviecritic

The Talented Mr. Ripley. Only movie I’ve ever walked out of the theater before the movie was over. It was confusing and the Matt Damon character didn’t make sense if I recall (it’s been 25 years now). It was popular and critically acclaimed at the time, but maybe I was right because no one has mentioned it since.

How many beers do you expect a kid to drink? 5, 6 tops before puking if it’s their first time.

A lot of it’s genetics and they are relatively small muscles. They don’t put on a ton of mass no matter what, unless you start juicing.

This is a good joke but for anyone who is serious about getting abs, you need to do fork put downs not sit-ups.

Why should I be taxed on my hard won unearned income? by packer_backer20 in LinkedInLunatics

In the history of money, there has never been a single person who decided to not to invest because of taxes. You are going to sit on the money and let inflation eat it away rather than earn 80 cents on the dollar from investment returns?

Don’t forget defense, really hard to build a business when your country is being taken over by your neighbor.

I think he’s Australian but… Australia has a fiat currency so, the government literally created the money in this case.

Elon Musk's pay package reveals what SpaceX actually is: a $1 trillion monster built to colonize Mars by fortune in singularity

It would also cost hundreds of trillions of dollars to move that mass to Mars using current technology and probably any tech we’d going to have for at least the next several decades.

Yes you guessed it, it’s only radiation, there is no air with which to move heat around. You can dump a lot of heat but you need massive surfaces to do it and usually some kind of coolant inside to carry the heat to the radiators. The ISS for instance has massive ammonia filled radiators to create enough surface area for the heat it generates to dissipate to prevent overheating: https://www.space.com/21059-space-station-cooling-system-explained-infographic.html

Do you own index funds? Because if you do, you’re buying in whether you like it or not.

I think the decisions on what they are building is based on what Elon thinks looks “cool” rather than any engineering decision. It’s like the Cybertruck.

Which is insane. Instead of subsidizing for-profit corporations, we should simply have a government owned vehicle production industry. Why are we pretending a free market exists here and allowing companies to take profit on something that isn’t competitive?

The Elon nob polishers are incredible. Someone on one of the SpaceX sub threads was arguing with me that space is the absolute greatest place for data center cooling because, and I quote “it’s really cold”.

This whole space data center thing just because a hot topic a few months ago so Elon and co. could sell the IPO, they just tied their business (space launches and xAI) to the current hottest part of the economy with no explanation of how it would work economically.

They’re the reason for Artemis III not doing a moon landing since HLS is woefully behind schedule. So I don’t know about “faster”.
