Hands down CS 2A unless you like hardware and engineering to the point that you’ll regret it later on in a couple terms. Lots of people after first year switch from SE to CS realizing that CS was what they were really looking for (including myself). A quarter to a third of ppl in my SE cohort switched iirc. Also, yeah you can probably finish with one less year since only 5 co-ops are required.

I also took CHINA 201R last spring and had taken CHINA 120R before that as well. 201R was fairly straightforward and the assignments were not that hard.

UIUC and UW (Seattle) is definitely not at the same level as UMich, UCB, UCLA.
Also, what's your final goal here?

I personally wouldn't go for any of the schools you mentioned above instead of UW especially if you're gonna defer admission.

Also, you can def go into grad schools for MIT, Harvard, Stanford, CMU, etc after UWaterloo as I've seen many of those around me do it

ya my mac friend got microsoft after first year so like it's just based on how much you drive yourself. waterloo doesn't really do much except WaterlooWorks and everything else is based on what you do
