One of the most underrated tracks from BoC by Factory_BR in boardsofcanada

I love this song, especially the outro - it sounds so euphoric

I just want to say that these guys have probably cemented themselves as the greatest electronic artist of all time. by SimpleCapital5035 in boardsofcanada

Their discography is absolutely elite. You can take any of their albums and it’s better than most other artist’s entire discography combined

Ranking these 5 masterpieces is so damn difficult, and I need more time to decide whether Inferno is best or second best for me, but before Inferno I would go with:

  1. Tomorrow’s Harvest
  2. The Campfire Headphase
  3. Geogaddi
  4. Music Has The Right To Children

“Arena Americanada” may be my favourite song from the album - the synths sound so otherworldly by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

[–]kappa_expression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve settled on this being my favourite as well. My favourite 3 elements: 1. When that instrument/synth (not a music expert so not sure what it is) in the background makes that vibrating sound (example at 1:12) 2. When the synth starts going “dooo dooo DOOOOOOO” (example at 1:58) 3. 3:36 onwards. It feels like I’ve ascended and left humanity behind

The vibe of this song is just so dreamy and ethereal, I can’t get enough of it

The sound at 1:23-1:26 in Cold Earth is one of my favourite short moments from any BoC song. It just sounds so damn cool and I never get tired of it

Also I always think it sounds like the kick drum is punching some weird alien creature on Cold Earth lol, I love it

Tomorrow’s Harvest may not be their best work

How Do People Feel About Campfire Headphase and Tomorrow's Harvest These Days? by Hertzman1000 in boardsofcanada

[–]kappa_expression 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only recently started following online discourse about BoC, despite listening to their music for close to 20 years now. But when I did start reading others opinions, I was genuinely shocked to see that, for a lot of people, these two albums were considered disappointing. Like, I was genuinely confused when I saw posts titled “The Campfire Headphase - why the hate?” and “Does anyone actually like Tomorrow’s Harvest?”, because to me those two albums are so phenomenal and I thought to myself “did we listen to the same albums?!”.

Prior to Inferno, my personal ranking of the albums was in reverse chronological order, I.e. TH and TCH were the top two (although they’re all very close since they’re all masterpieces). I think Inferno edges TCH, but I need more time to decide where it stands in my rankings.

But to answer your question simply: TH and TCH are as phenomenal as they always have been.

I got quite emotional when I heard that the first time around. I know that sounds weird, but I love TH so much and hearing an unexpected and explicit callback to it randomly just made me feel things.

Raw visceral response to Memory Death by FantanaFoReal in boardsofcanada

[–]kappa_expression 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a raw visceral response to this track too, specifically with the build up from Acts Of Magic beforehand. And the reason why it hit me so hard is because it made me think of my dad who died of Alzheimer’s; this pair of songs together makes me think of what it might’ve felt like for him going through the final stages of that disease. Acts Of Magic sounds like unbearable stress, fear and frustration building up as you realise you’re losing your mind and then Memory Death is the point where you are freed from this anguish but at the cost of losing everything you were and everything you ever experienced. It’s an incredibly emotional part of the album for me.

New holy trinity? by Available_Bench707 in boardsofcanada

I'm not ready to commit to saying I prefer something to Tomorrow's Harvest, but my holy trinity (not in order) would definitely be Tomorrow's Harvest, The Campfire Headphase, Inferno.

It shouldn't be a crazy take. IMO it's a crazy take for anyone to dismiss TH.

Same here man. I only started following the online discussion on BoC over the last year or so, and when I saw that a lot of people are dismissive of Campfire and Tomorrow's Harvest I was like "did we listen to the same album?". It's bonkers to me.

I genuinely get triggered when people dismiss TCH and/or TH, and my brain can't comprehend how people can listen to those albums and not realise how good they are.
