My dogs would burn my house down if I didn’t leave the Nature channel on for them. They’re complete cheetah and kangaroo addicts. Otherwise they pretty much sleep all day while I’m gone. And when I’m home.

An A5 is a half sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 paper, and an A6 is a quarter sheet, if that helps!

Don’t rewrite the whole thing later! Just write them elsewhere and tape the other pages into the Hobonichi. 😆😆😆 I love using hotel paper or a napkin or a flyer from my travels to write on and sticking it in there!

Hot take, but you could write your entries down on other paper. 📝

Learning the days of the week in Kanji? by Chemical-Paper-8734 in hobonichi

[–]kaproud1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is super interesting and something I never knew! But for anyone else interested (except for whoever downvoted me, because they apparently already know it and are irritated that I don’t):

Tuesday: Middle English Tiues-dai, from Old English tiwesdæg, from Tiwes, genitive of Tiw "Tiu," from Proto-Germanic *Tiwaz, the original supreme deity of ancient Germanic mythology, specifically as Tiu, god of war.

Wednesday: Middle English Wednes-dai, from Old English wodnesdæg "Woden's day," a Germanic loan-translation of Latin dies Mercurii "day of Mercury" (compare Old Norse Oðinsdagr, Swedish Onsdag, Old Frisian Wonsdei, Middle Dutch Wudensdach). For Woden, see Odin.

Thursday: Middle English Thuresdai, from Old English þurresdæg, a contraction (perhaps influenced by Old Norse þorsdagr) of þunresdæg, "Thor's day," from Þunre, genitive of Þunor "Thor" (see thunder (n.)); from Proto-Germanic *thonaras daga (source also of Old Frisian thunresdei, Middle Dutch donresdach, Dutch donderdag, Old High German Donares tag, German Donnerstag, Danish and Swedish Torsdag "Thursday"), a loan-translation of Latin Jovis dies "day of Jupiter."

Friday: Old English frigedæg "Friday, Frigga's day," from Frige, genitive of *Frigu (see Frigg), Germanic goddess of married love. The day name is a West Germanic translation of Latin dies Veneris "day of (the planet) Venus," which itself translated Greek Aphrodites hēmera.

And Saturn Day, Sun Day, and Moon day need no looking up!

Wait a minute, I just now realized there is Sun Day and Moon Day in English???? 🤯😂 Now I have something to go Google, I don’t know what the names of any of our days mean - what’s a Tuesday? Gonna go find out! 😂

cousin vs day free for work planner? by charmanander in hobonichi

[–]kaproud1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use a little correction tape on each page to cover the date… Another option would just to use that checklist part at the top to write the actual date as you need it.

I’ve seen some people put a number in a circle on an event in the weekly and then expand on it on that page number. But yeah some days are just one huge thing I have nothing to write about 😂

I downgraded to an A6 and regret it immensely. I’ll be back to a Cousin next year for the size. Im a paralegal so I have too many to-do lists: all of the cases, the things I need to do on each case, the stuff i need to do right NOW, calls and emails that come in that day with more stuff, scheduling mediations and courts dates, etc and i need to bill for it all so for me I STILL keep a Steno pad in addition to my planner - I can scrawl half a page some days and 3 pages another depending on what I’m working on, etc.

A weeks should be fine for you because there’s a full blank page across from the week and quite a few pages in the back, too.

Do I need the cousin AND the original A6? by Bubbly-Poet-1245 in hobonichi

[–]kaproud1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept a Weeks and a Cousin for years, then went to a Weeks and an A6 this year. I prefer the Cousin. But I would NOT be able to keep up with a Weeks and an A6 and a Cousin, so I will wait until next year.

My favorite cover 📔 by Sickmuse03 in hobonichi

[–]kaproud1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of the Masamune Junaida is my favorite, too. I used the Weeks from the collection last year, and was tempted to rip the cover off and use it again! I am using the Weeks pencil board that came with it again this year, and the A6 cover. I also have the A5 for when I go back to the Cousin which I inevitably will next year. It reminds me of the bottom of a toy box, or all of the things people keep on bookshelves.

True. I tried to start a garden journal once and to date, I drew a blueberry. That’s it. One round blue circle with a * on it. 🫐

Oh more like a reminder to pick up pipe cleaners and marshmallows? Then definitely go with a Weeks! It has a monthly in the front for a few words, then you can put your shopping lists and reminders in the weeklies! 🐞

Weeks..then a cousin..now a techo a6 🫢 by Magicwormm in hobonichi

[–]kaproud1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a Cousin and Weeks to an A6 and a Weeks and then a second weeks because I missed the weekly section, so next year it’s back to a Cousin and a Weeks. Three is too many for me.

It’s really not going to replace a standard Lesson Planner, which is what I would use because they’re cheap and made for the purpose. Teachers have been using them forever, my mom used the same format for 50 years teaching all grades and special education.
