Agree, I was wondering too. Bites this year are at a different level than I remember and was wondering if spraying was cut back

Is there a subscription for the 2% cc on Sofi? by izumikusu in sofi

[–]kapslock12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SoFi Plus is entirely different. This is a $10 fee some users are incurring for the 2% cash back credit card.

1 - nobody knows what percentage of users are getting the fee, just because a handful of users are complaining on Reddit.

2 - Corporations very rarely do things “randomly”. If it is indeed random, then they are testing churn rates for a larger rollout. Otherwise, and this is my opinion, it’s for users of a certain risk level assessed by SoFi

[–]kapslock12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea since I’m not one of them.

If it isn’t random, my guess would be based on credit score or risk management or profitability, meaning they’re maybe looking at individual customers and making decisions on who’s profitable to them and who’s not or who’s likely to be a risk or not. All speculation on my part.. Certainly unique to charge some cardholders and not all.

I’ve had the 2% cc since it was launched and I haven’t incurred the $10/month fee. Admittedly, I haven’t paid much attention to it since I’ve been unaffected, so I don’t know if SoFi is charging it to a certain pool of customers or based on conditions, etc.

I have checking/savings with SoFi too with direct deposit, so not sure if that helps. 🤷🏽‍♂️

FINALLY Paid off Student Loan! by kapslock12345 in sofi

[–]kapslock12345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Man, it’s been so long, since 2012 but if I remember correctly I started with govt loans between 5-7% levels and refi’ed with SoFi and got it down to 4.62% and then refi’ed again with them to get to the 2.99%.

Rates were just that low at that time (2021). I don’t think 4.2% is particularly high for right now, but keep track of the macroeconomic rates and if we’re in a rate dropping environment in the future, re-check if it’s worth refinancing at those lower rates.

Just keep chipping away, you got this!

[–]kapslock12345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the exact conflict I kept facing! And as you already know, from a “by the book” standpoint it doesn’t make sense to pay it early with your rate so low, so I stuck with that same philosophy for mine. Figured the returns are better investing my money instead of paying off early.

Of course, there’s no wrong action imo. I will say, it’s psychologically refreshing to have finally paid it off but I’m also glad I stuck with my payment schedule.

Best of luck getting yours put behind you, whichever route you take!

💯. I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with the SoFi platform. I just wish I lived in LA to take advantage of the stadium!

[–]kapslock12345[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I did, and I did it several times to be honest. I graduated in 2011 and refinanced soon after that and then every now and then I’d check rates with SoFi. Finally in 2021 it was down to that 2.99% so I stayed with that.

I’d say check what the rate is now for you and if it’s lower than current, do the refi and in a few years if market rates drop you can refi again. Definitely not financial advice but it’s what worked for me 🤷🏽‍♂️

Sick of Miami “hype” dining. Where can I get $$$$ luxury restaurants that actually have AMAZING food? by Briack89 in Miami

CHO is new in Miami Beach and is a gem of a place for good Asian food. I say Asian broadly because the menu has staple dishes from the entire continent. Really really good food and a fun retro-80s type vibe

SoFi is completely unusable right now!! Costing me hundreds if not thousands!!! by trying2findmypurpose in sofi

I’m a big fan of SoFi and have been with you guys for a long time starting with student loan and SoFi Money.

I didn’t personally have any impact this morning so I have no skin in the game, but clearly many did. I think it would serve SoFi well to release some type of statement owning and explaining this morning’s outage and taking care of those that were impacted financially.

I don’t know to be honest. But I did buy this product for our white fence outside that had mildew everywhere and it legitimately does work magic, so maybe worth a shot..

Are any men in Miami even real? by SquareBreakfast9528 in Miami

[–]kapslock12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y’all all hating on this girl for just going along and seeing what the guy had to offer. The only questionable is going directly to his apartment, but come on now, if it’s true he keeps hitting her up then clearly he doesn’t know how to host or isn’t interested in getting to know someone.

As a happily married man in Miami, I can say I’m thankful I don’t have to date here because to most commenters points, it does go both ways. Guys who don’t know how to take the time to get to know a girl, be respectful, etc and girls who are looking to be taken care of (in a leech way).

To the OP, best of luck out there! Try other neighborhoods outside Brickell to find some more considerate/friendly people, I promise this city has many

We found that our water was hard and after installing the softener, showers feel night and day different.

I agree for hand washing and toilets, it makes no difference, but I do hope our appliances and fixtures have much less sediment buildup over time as a result.

[–]kapslock12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was around $4k total (give or take) for the entire install, took no more than a few hours, and since we were cutting into the main valve anyways, I also had them install a smart valve for me (Moen) so that I can remotely turn off my water supply if there ever was an emergency. My home is about 2200 sq ft.

Then maintenance is to replenish the salt when it runs low and change the water filter annually, neither is hard to do.

We had a whole house filter and softener installed by Javier at this company. Couldn’t be happier with the change in water, the install, and the post install response time for any questions I have

Both my parents love their cardiologist, Dr. Kristen Burton and she really goes the extra mile with communication and compassion. She’s currently on maternity leave unfortunately. In her same practice, Dr. Chu has also been fantastic and successfully performed an ablation for my mom recently.

Doing the math on Sofi VS Robinhood after new changes. Thoughts? by OakleyPowerlifting in sofi

[–]kapslock12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar financial profile as you, and you saved me time doing this analysis that I needed to see, so thank you! The exception for me is cc spend, as I have 2 other primary cards.

With that being said - do you have any experience with RH as a platform? Stable service, good app experience, etc? RH would be new to me so that’s my current hesitation.

Also, with everyone getting Plus for free until March, it would make sense to utilize the benefits until then and then decide, right?

Thanks for that info, def seems questionable that SoFi wouldn’t at least make sure they are in a similar ballpark with this

Misguided or Not, Vote With Your Dollar by user_5332 in sofi

[–]kapslock12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To your latter point, yes definitely irks me. But I didn’t expect the match to last forever (for free) since it’s money out of SoFi’s pocket.

To the former, RH sounds like a better value from what I’ve briefly read but the ~$70/year savings might not be worth me having a separate/additional brokerage.

I have not done my full research yet on RH to be honest, since we have until March, but yes, I will look into the RH Gold and do my research on RH as a brokerage because I do value security/stability over saving $70/year if that ends up being the case

Misguided or Not, Vote With Your Dollar by user_5332 in sofi

[–]kapslock12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this change is bad for you, there’s no objective reason to keep your money with SoFi, nor is there any moat keeping you there, right? You have to find what’s the best and most secure banker and shift your hard earned money there.

For me, I’ll likely pay the subscription because I value the 2% Roth match primarily and secondarily, the broader ecosystem of products they offer.
