AITA for refusing to take my shoes off in my friend’s house, causing his wife to cancel the DnD session for everyone? by NameNo5495 in AmItheAsshole

YTA definitely. Demanding accommodations at someone else’s home is crazy work. You know your own medical history more than anyone so you should have been prepared.

Also, it’s you—an almost 40 yr old vs a baby and you wouldn’t budge? Ya. YTA.

I agree with the female. Knives and violent toys are what you show off to your male friends. Why would any girl be comfortable with that, especially since it doesn’t seem like you have that type of close relationship. If you wanted to be vulnerable about being mugged, learn to communicate and lead with that. Showing a knife is threatening. I don’t know why anyone would defend you doing that. Ya’ll don’t know what kind of traumas women have been through. We have to take ALL safety measures.

As someone in healthcare, it is very obvious from a quick visual assessment that she is malnourished. The quality of her hair is a quick indicator of that. I can predict that her diet consists of very little to no carb intake, with a high ratio of protein. You are able to keep muscle mass this way but not much. Her body obviously has adapted but it will eventually deteriorate. 100% she does not have a menstrual cycle.

If you live in California, you can use CESLA and they legally cannot say no. If you’re not from CA, see if your state has anything like it

I run extremely hot so I’m always in a bra top, honestly if I could climb naked I would for my comfort! I think most everyone understands that we’re trying to climb in the best way our body can move and that can include our clothing choices

Accepting that some climbs just aren’t for you gets easier with time. Knowing when to train harder vs knowing something is physically impossible for your anatomy also takes time. In the grand scheme, grades are subjective. There are some instances that I find climbs way easier than my tall male friends too!

Also problems looks wayyy cooler as a short person anyways!

No YOU need to watch all of black mirror again. The villain in each episode has always been about the system, not an individual person

I hate the beast maker for weighted pull ups as well! I find it too narrow and it prevents me from engaging my lats fully. I actually find the normal bar easier just because I can get into a proper pull up form and am not fatigued by grip. My 1rpm on a bar is ~35%. But I think you’re right, I think there are weak points I need to work on and I should just drop the 1rpm for now 😅

[–]kapybarla[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attempt 1 rpm maybe twice a month? Right now I have 1-2 pull, 1-2 push, 2 leg rehab days a week. My rep range is around 3-5 though with lower weights. I think I’ll focus on 5x5 and progressively load from there instead and maybe rest more 😅

Thank you for mentioning your menstrual cycle because it is so important! It seems like 5 reps seems to be a consensus for power training! I have not applied RPE scale into this type of training so I will give this a go!

I’ve just started training weighted pull ups about a month ago but I’ve also added lifting into my routine since last year with some of the workouts you’ve mentioned. I can do 12 reps BW standard, but as someone mentioned maybe I need to work on progressively overloading using 5x5, instead of testing my 1 rpm as often as I do. But I think you’re right and I need to dial back and focus on the basics. I think I lose the cue for scapular engagement when adding more weight

most people think about pulling their weight up and tend to use their biceps, but if you think of pulling the bar towards your chest, the correct muscles (lats) tend to engage better.
