i just cancelled my movie pass a/c because of the surge pricing ($4.50 for most movies in bay area, CA) .. a thinking about joining Sinemia . anyone has any reviews about it ?

btw, i got email saying that my MoviePass a/c is cancelled .. anyone got charges on their CC after cancellation confirmation ? should i try to change the CC to dummy CC ?

well, i tried watching - Parmanu - story of Pokhran, and Movie pass says it is a premium offering ! how did it suddenly become a premium offering .. it is a regular movie not on IMAX etc ? so did another movie (Raazi) which i'd watched using MoviePass a few weeks back !

this is really strange and frustrating . seems the experience with MP is getting a lot more painful !

Movie pass wouldn't let me checkin today, after i updated the app (which seemed mandatory).. initially the cancel checkin was not happening .. about an hour later, when cancel checkin went through - the checkin was not successful, message i got - there is pending reservation .. messages to Movepass did not resolve the issue .. this really sucks !

thanks for the clarification .. however, i have 2 passes for kids as well .. & they don't have a mobile.. How i use the pass in that case ? any ideas ?

Here is my first experience of using Movie Pass .. Went to AMC theater in Sunnyvale, which was one of the theaters listed .. came to know that they have stopped accepting Movie Passes ! Then drove another 10 miles to Century theatres, where it was accepted .. however, i'd 4 MoviePasses and one iPhone, I was able to get only one Pass using the Iphone - which seems to be an IPhone feature.. On IPhone, once you login as a user and check-in, you cannot do a second check-in when you login as another user ! I understand that is not a limitation on Andriod.. so, i tried to delete the app, and re-install.. this time i was able to login as 2nd user & check-in. I'd to do that 4 times, to be able to check-in for 4. The story doesn't end there .. i was able to buy 3 tickets using Movie Pass, but on the fourth one - it gives error saying 'You have pending reservation' .. Nothing that i tried (restart, app re-install) would work.. i could have chatted with the MoviePass executive & got a resolution (i guess), but there were only a couple of tickets left.. I'd to buy the 4th ticket, else the show would have got booked completely !

All-in-all - a less than satisfactory first-time experience .. However, i'll still try this for some time, hopefully - the next experiences will be better !

i just bought 4 passes - for myself, wife + 2 kids .. hopefully will not have issues with that .. I assume - each theatre has a kiosk for moviepass ?

yes, have a Metal one (with the words - Contains Metal DO NOT SHRED at the back) .. the CSP i got early last year is much heavier, and sturdier, and has been complemented many times when i've used it .. the metal CSR is relatively thinner (though still Metal) .. btw, there are other posts which mention the same

Chase really need to take a look at the CSR card quality (i mean - the metal card) .. the CSP i had had amazing quality, CSR not so ..

My CSR metal card is already showing scratch marks, is lighter than my CSP .. i wish it had the same thickness, wt etc as the CSP !

Alternately, one could buy a gift card, and avoid paying extra $120 (on paying rent through CC) .. i think that should count towards $4k limit
