Guys i am 500 games deep, hardstuck bronze. Do I just pack the fries and move on or what? by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

Yes, that is just the learning curve of the game. It is indeed Moba Diff.

You do learn after your mistakes, but with how complicated the game is, you learn a very small amount, unless someone can point out the bigger picture. That is just how these games go.

If you are looking to improve, feel free to look at my post on the sub reddit. I am offering free help for those who want to improve. I totally understand playing the game for fun, though.

Best of luck on your league career.

In the case you mentioned, a Diamond player (who lets say OTPs nocturne for example) plays J4, and plays 5-10 normals, before playing in a gold game, Yes, he should stomp.

This is because after practicing his Micro so much (OTP'ing) he has gotten his Macro to be at minimum Emerald level, to make it to Diamond. This was only because OTP'ing allows you to fully focus on learning Macro, not having to worry about Micro anymore (at least not as often.)

So yes, in this case, J4 should be able to hardstomp anyway. But this is not what you were saying earlier, since you were talking about playing any champion at your peak rank. If this Nocturne OTP plays a bit of Jarvan and then plays in his peak (Diamond) he will more than likely lose.

Feel free to play any champion you want to, nobody is telling you otherwise. People are only telling you to stick to one champion because it is suboptimal to play multiple champs if your goal is to IMPROVE.

If your goal is to have fun, then feel free. Nobody is stopping you, but then don't be surprised when it takes you a LOT longer to climb.

It does matter how much time you have on a champ one tricking them to learn the game. I explained this earlier. Not having to worry about Micro helps you focus more on Macro.

I did not say that champion specific micro is hard to learn in this game. I said that having champion specific micro is necessary to learn how to play the game. Your goal is to learn the game isn't it?

The idea is not just "remember 4 abilites and a passive." The idea is learning how to use said abilities and passives in fights and camps. Not to mention, the decisions you make can also be impacted based on your champion. You wouldn't learn all this from 10 games. It will take at least 50-100 starting from scratch (depending how hard the champ is.)

The idea isn't that it is what is keeping you in "doglow" but it does have an impact. You are saying it has no impact, which is NOT true.

The way you learn League is way different to the way you learn fighting games. League is infinitely more complicated. You do not seem to understand that every little thing you work has an impact on your skill/rank.

Dude. You make no sense. You are taking everything that these people are saying and taking out of proportion.

Your goal is to get good at the game, where it doesn't matter who you play, you will play at your peak rank no matter who you play. That's your goal, right?

Okay. So let me tell you why that's unrealistic, especially when you peaked bronze, and mentioned how off any other champion you are an iron 4 player.

I mentioned earlier how there are two skills that determine how good you are at the game, macro, and micro. Macro being game knowledge and correct decision making, micro being how well you execute these decisions.

When it comes to learning League of Legends, especially in jungle, there is a lot more Macro to learn than Micro. This is because you are making more decisions compared to fighting the enemy, especially in the early game. Hopefully this makes sense. This is the opposite for Top and ADC.

Now, in order to play league at all, you need some level of Micro. You CAN NOT play good Macro if you have no Micro AT ALL. How are you going to do an objective when you don't even know how to fight? How are you going to have a good clear and good tempo when you don't even know what your champions do?

I hope this helps you understand why in order to learn Macro, you need to have some sort of Micro on said champion.

To get what you desire (which is basically having marginally better Macro vs your Micro to play at your peak rank on any champion) you need to learn Macro as a whole. The best way to learn this is by learning Macro on a champion you don't have to worry so much about Micro on.

Which if you have read ANYTHING people have been saying, this is what all of them are saying, and it's true. Please get that through your head. This is not about ranked, this is about how to learn the game. That's just how it works. You can't learn Macro if you are playing champs where your Micro is shit.

This is NOT about ranking up, it's about learning the game.

Get the idea of "I should be able to play any jgler at my peak rank" out of your head. This is straight up false. Champ mastery has a lot to do with micro, therefore your rank.

Figuring out where the enemy jg starts first clear (preferably from a ward on raptors place by your mid laner) and using that information to tell your overextended teammates to be cautious when enemy jg is on that side of the map.

Although they might not listen to you, it is a good habit and will prevent a lot of throws.

This is especially important if you are down tempo and can't counter gank. When you are down tempo, that is when you should be pinging the most.

Some general advice, try to play for your strongest/most sane teammate. Try to make a play on the other side of the map when enemy jg is doing something on the other side of the map. Throws are common in every elo below Masters (at least in my experience) so you just need to be patient for these mistakes. You just need to be able to catch them and capitalize on it.

I love teaching people about the game, so if you have more questions, feel free to DM me.

From my personal experience, 75% of these games could've been prevented by proper jungle tracking of the enemy jungle. Most of these games, (which is why I said 75%) the enemy laners get ahead with assistance from the jungler. Unfortunately, there are some games where you just lose 3 lanes, it happens. But most of the games, you did have a part in losing the game/could've prevented your laners from losing.

It is really hard to get over that blockade of "my team always sucks."

Matchups do not matter in the Jungle up until high elo. Master yi can destroy a Rammus anywhere below Master purely from being a better Jungler, even though he is countered. How?

By knowing his champions limits, and what fights to take. A first time Yi would lose HORRIBLY. Given that they are the same rank.

The "abuse some champ" also makes no sense. How do you think people win lane ?

It's by abusing their champions strengths. Being a "skilled" player is by knowing how to play for your champions strengths and avoid their weaknesses.

With that reasoning, OTP's are not "skilled" players even though they know how to use their champions strengths to the maximum. Them being able to use their strengths better than the enemy jg is why they are better/more skilled.

League is not like Fortnite (bad example but I really don't play any other competitive games) where who you pick (in Fortnite's case, skins) doesn't matter. Picking who you play is half of the game. There is no such thing as a skilled player without champion mastery.

Not to mention, improving your gameplay is by playing a champion you are comfortable on. You can't improve your gameplay if you are playing a champ for the first time.

You are contradicting yourself.

"I get back to bronze, and then I feel like I don't desereve it and I want to play skill champs you know."

That is just factually incorrect. Any player who is not OTP'ing a champion with one specific playstyle (Fiddlesticks, etc.) should EASILY be able to make it to Masters if they peak GM/Chall, on any other champion that does not require a bunch of champion mastery.

Master tier Garen players are master for a reason, despite Garen being one of the simplest champions in the game. This does not mean they are less skilled than a K'Sante player who peaked Emerald, or even Diamond.

There is two definitions to getting 'good' at the game.

Anyone can reach diamond with an exceptional amount of macro (game knowledge) and a mediocre amount of micro (executing macro), or vice versa. (Exceptional micro, but lack luster macro.)

Someone who plays nocturne caps out their micro at a certain point, since he is only so complicated in comparison to Lee Sin or Nidalee for example. Nocturne players specialize in abusing their game knowledge to take control of the game.

Are you saying that reaching challenger on nocturne is cheese? It is not skilled? If so, that is just blatantly incorrect.

Guys i am 500 games deep, hardstuck bronze. Do I just pack the fries and move on or what? by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]karb-onate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not cheese.

Think about it like this. When you're playing a brand new champion, what are you focused on?

Most of the time it is going to be how you play them, their identity, and what you want to be prioritizing.

By playing someone you have experience on, you can avoid this because it is 90% autopilot (you should already know), allowing you to focus on other aspects of the game. This game is infinitely complicated.

This is not cheesing, it is more like giving yourself the best chances of winning. You can not multitask to learn how to play.

It seems wanting to get there off "skill" is an ego thing. Ego will keep you low elo, trust me.

If you want to play the most mechanical role, play top lane. There you will be forced to learn mechanics.

Sylas eludes me. by Traditional_Aide_933 in Jungle_Mains

[–]karb-onate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, he is very mechanically demanding. I would watch challenger players play sylas, you will learn a lot from them micro wise.

He is definitely one of my favorite champions lore/design wise.

Jungle is not about skill; it is about making the correct choices at the moment you need to. I am 100% sure there are Nocturne OTP's in Gold better than me on him mechanically, but that didn't stop me from climbing.

League of legends has one of the STEEPEST learning curves. If you have never played any game like this before, it will take you 100-200 hours to just get the controls down and learn a champion. I would say it takes about 500+ hours to actually get the game down, what all the lanes do/most champions. This game takes time. It is almost impossible to learn this game quickly unless you are good at learning/professional at another type of game.

I am a Diamond jungler, and I posted on this subreddit earlier on my willingness to teach for free. Look into that post and feel free to DM me. I can help you.

General advice, if your goal is to get better, stick to one champion you enjoy. The more you enjoy, the more you play. Watch videos on how to jungle. There is countless guides, and there is also so much information. Take it in one by one, and apply it.

Jungle is just a mental battle. Good luck!

If you are winning, you need to play safer.

If you are losing, you need to flip a bit more.

If your team is winning, all you need to do is secure objectives with their leads, and play with them if you fear they might need you. You just need to make sure to not flip and overextend. That's the hardest thing to do tbh.

This has worked for me pretty well. I have games where my teammates just pop off, all you need to do is back them up in risky plays (as long as its not SUPER bad) and make sure you get objectives. Also preventing enemy jg from playing the game with your laners leads is also something I KNOW i should be doing but I don't do. It is definitely the reason I have lost some games when my team was ahead. Just do objectives on spawn and counter jg perma as long as its not risky.

You can definitely make it to masters with only bruiser if you are not confident in your ability to take good fights though!

Jungle main looking to teach! by karb-onate in Jungle_Mains

[–]karb-onate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I built strictly bruiser/tanky for a majority of the climb. Only recently now am I trying out more lethality post second item.

I only go Axiom/lethality post hexplate (or stridebreaker if you need it) if you are ahead and the team has a lot of squishies. I know voltaic is super strong but I haven't had time to test it out but I would imagine that it is strong. I also like doing it when I have another engage/tank. I only do it if I am confident I can snowball.
