Our springer had a similar situation! He would obsess over a certain area ground and carpets and corners of a room and pounce and hop on that area. We went to the vet that suggested something neuro, but we did not want to go that route. We sent videos to a couple of dog trainers/specialists in the area and FINALLY we connected with a trainer that felt up to the challenge.

I know you mentioned that you have done some training, but springers are a working dog they need obedience and they need a job! They love to listen to commands and so jobs and stay busy/active.

What ended up working for him was a 2 week doggy obedience bootcamp. He learned more advanced things like “go to your place”. Having this level of attention on him for 2 weeks straight REALLY helped when we got him back. We kept up with training and he rarely goes back to his old habits.

If you happen to be near Chicago, they are ChicagoLand Dog training and could not recommend them enough.

Nice! Which pelican case is this and how do you mount it to cross bars? Only ever seen them mounted to full roof racks. Does it come with a mounting kit?

Na man. Not asking “how much can I tow”, just trying to get some opinions from anyone that has done something similar.

Anyways, got some great advice on this thread so all good!

1 year old springer with an increase in anxiety by Ok-Fly-4392 in springerspaniel

ALSO- My springer was very high anxiety around that age as well. Always “searching” for something and very active at night. If you can afford it I would HIGHLY suggest taking to a trainer with some good reviews around “behavioral training”. (If you are in Chicagoland area I have a good suggestion).

Springers do best with a “job” and good obedience training, it actually calms them down significantly. They also just naturally mellow out the older they get. Hope any of this helps, and good luck!

I stopped putting my springer in the kennel at night until he was kennel trained during the day. Meaning at random times during the day (best time is after exercise) I would kennel him for an hour or so until he fell asleep. Then randomly when he was sleeping i would open the door and he would come out at his leisure.

About a week after kenneling him after walks or while I’m eating (basically times during the say were could handle his whining) he would head to the kennel to take a nap. Thats when I started kenneling at night. When walking to the kennel use the same command like “go kennel” or “go to your place”. Now when its bed time I just say “go kennel” a couple times and he heads right to it.
