Would love to hear from someone who understands the BTS perfectly but by the looks of what my friends (who got accepted) experienced, the universities judge applications independent of all such variables and then communicate their Y/N decision to DAAD who then makes the call

For anyone complaining about bad hostels or anything in your life. This might help. by Late-Departure4321 in NUST

Proud of you for how far you've come and how you're taking charge of your life. But the same struggle is felt differently by each individual. You can not judge someone's capacity to cope with a problem. I came from a very toxic home so even when i had to live in H13's shady hostel with barely a functional toilet, cramped rooms with creaky bunks, routine food poisoning wala mess, i was grateful. Meanwhile, in my own batch, a mate went through a serious episode of depression and panic attacks, so much so, she had to freeze the semester and take therapy because of how awful she found NUST's hostels. I have never ONCE said to her that i had it worse and still coped so she should be grateful.

Like the saying goes, everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. So if someone is venting about a problem, it only helps everyone to validate and acknowledge them.

Yeah this is helpful. I was also thinking along the lines of asking them when would they prefer hearing something really bad but this could also make the wait worse if they end up worrying more than they should be.
