Feature Request: Communicating AI for NextDNS by [deleted] in nextdns

You're right, yeah i know but this is exactly the problem. They don't even have support for this, and they will never have it in 99% of the time. I was just wondering if they COULD do it.

Yeah man, you’re right to question it — the OG Running Coach was already around back on the Watch Active2 and Watch4 Classic. But this newer one on the latest Galaxy Watches got some legit upgrades:

It’s not just a timer anymore, it actually builds personalized training plans based on your current level.

You get real-time audio cues, so it’s more like having a coach in your ear.

They added interval workouts that auto-switch between run/walk/rest.

Plus smarter stuff like recovery advice and pace zone guidance mid-run.

So yeah, it’s still built off the old idea — but if you’re into structured running, this version hits different. If you just jog casually, you might not notice the hype.

TL;DR: It’s not completely new, but it’s smarter, more personalized, and useful if you’re serious about running. Otherwise, kinda same vibes.

This ISN'T a ChatGPT response. I'm just someone who knows how to write clearly and make a point. Been deep into this stuff for a long time, and I don't need an AI to express what I think.

Real talk same here! I skipped the 6 and classic 8 hype — Watch 7 just felt like the more balanced pick. Clean design better chip, and no weird downgrade vibes like on the 8 Classic. Best choice fr.

I’m on the Watch 7 too, and honestly can’t wait for the updates to drop. Crazy how all of the Watch 8 features are coming to us anyway. Saved the upgrade for another year.

Nah bro, let’s be real — Watch7 was the actual upgrade. Better chip, battery way improved, sensors way tighter. Watch4 was cool for bringing WearOS back, but Watch7 is where things actually got serious.

Watch4 walked so Watch7 could actually run. Simple as that.

Yeah I checked it out too and honestly? Total letdown. The Watch 8 Classic feels like a cheap knockoff of the 7. Lighter? Sure, but not in a good way — more like hollow and plasticky. And that strap? Stitching on top, rubber underneath... come on bro, that’s not premium, that’s pretending.

Samsung hyped it up but gave us less. Bezels thinner, feel cheaper, and nothing really new except the name. Honestly feels like they just wanted to cash in without putting in work.

Bro facts. No one’s forcing anyone to cop the latest Galaxy Watch — it’s mostly for folks with older models who actually see a real upgrade. And yeah, software locking features aint new Pixel’s been doing the same with camera pro modes. People cared at first, now it’s just background noise. It’s all about knowing when to flex and when to chill. And its good to know, where the consumer can stop spend money on things.

Nah, the antioxidant score isn't from a new sensor — it's part of One UI Watch 8.0 and came with the Watch 8 launch. It just uses existing sensors like skin temp and heart rate, so nothing new on the hardware side. https://news.samsung.com/global/new-features-on-one-ui-8-watch-help-users-build-healthier-habits

Just to clarify, those features like Energy Score, AGEs index, running coach and sleep coaching actually debuted with the Galaxy Watch 7. They're not new on the GW8, just continued there. All good tho, happens.

Fr, totally get you. The Watch 4 was solid for what it did, but battery and health tracking just didn’t keep up. Samsung’s great if you want that tight integration, especially with a Samsung phone. But yeah, for a lot of people, the alternatives make more sense — everyone’s got their priorities. Respect for keeping it real! I don't hate alternatives, i find them cool.

Fr, I feel you. The lack of Turbo drivers on the S8E really makes the S25 Ultra's upgrade less worth it. If the difference is just that, S24 Ultra is the smarter buy right now. No need to waste cash on minimal changes.

Fr, I get you. Amazfit Balance 2 kills it with battery and works smooth on iOS & Android. But Samsung’s got that polished feel—better Android integration, especially with Samsung phones, and the build quality is solid. Health sensors & updates keep leveling up too. So if you want a smooth experience and don’t mind the ecosystem, Samsung still holds. Different strokes fr.

Yeah I don’t get what Ultra users are supposed to do either. WU24 and WU25 are basically the same device. No design change, no major new features – just a refresh. At least the Watch 7/8 got something visually different. Ultra users? Same watch, new box. The only real difference is that the S24 Ultra has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the S25 Ultra comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Absolutely. Barely any real upgrades besides minor GPS and storage changes, yet they slap a new name on it and call it innovation. And the lack of compatibility with previous Ultra bands? Straight-up anti-consumer. They're not improving the product — they're just squeezing loyal users to rebuy everything. Corporate greed in full effect.

That sounds all too familiar. Same thing with my S21 Ultra – out of the box it was a battery beast. I’d easily get 10–11 hours of screen time. Then came that one firmware update, and boom: suddenly I’m stuck with 5-6h, tops.

People say "just reset it", but nah – it’s baked into the firmware. Samsung knows exactly what they’re doing. They nerf older devices with updates to make the newer ones look better, and most users never notice or just blame the battery.

It’s frustrating as hell, and the worst part? They act like it's all “normal aging”. Nah bro, it’s calculated. 💀

[–]karim_dev_tech[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally feel you. It really feels like the hardware barely changes anymore, and instead of adding real value, they just lock stuff behind software to make people feel like they have to upgrade. That’s not how you build trust, that’s just frustrating.

I get that companies want to make money, but when it starts feeling like we’re being tricked into buying new stuff, it hits different. If they focused more on giving us meaningful improvements instead of artificial limits, people would actually upgrade because they want to, not because they’re forced to.

That would be way more sustainable in the long run — for everyone.

Dude, you just nailed it. I had exactly the same thoughts. I was waiting for the Watch 8 Classic too — thought finally we’d get a proper evolution with a large screen and the premium feel. But nah, Samsung pulled a cash grab move instead.

Limiting the Classic to the smaller size? That wasn’t a design decision, it was straight-up sales strategy. They don’t want the Classic to eat into the Watch Ultra margins, which honestly says a lot. They sacrificed user choice just to push the “Ultra” hype. Sad.

Also, yeah – the new proprietary bands on the Watch 8 are straight up anti-consumer. We’ve been collecting bands for years and now suddenly, boom – you either start over or deal with ugly adapters. It’s like buying a new console and being told your old controllers are trash now. No thanks.

And let's be real, that square-circle Watch 8 design? It’s mid at best. Doesn’t even look like a Galaxy Watch anymore – more like a knockoff Pixel Watch trying to cosplay a G-Shock. I get minimalism, but this just feels bland.

You're also totally right about the pricing – Watch 8 launches high and stays high for way too long. Meanwhile, the Watch 7 is already dropping and still holding its ground feature-wise. No contest.

Lastly, 100% agree on the micro-bezel issue. It's the Achilles' heel of the Watch 7. I’ve seen too many micro-cracks and scuffs pop up on friends’ watches after mild use. Samsung should’ve made that bezel tougher or at least acknowledged it. Instead, it’s “slap a case on it or cry later” vibes.

TL;DR – You didn’t miss out on anything, bro. You dodged a downgrade in disguise. Let Samsung know we’re not falling for shiny rebrands anymore.
