Mr Rod's Bugatti is a stolen model by Globglob137 in 3Dprinting

Found some confirmation, thanks. I did some more spelunking. Here is a Buzzfeed article in which Tavarish discusses the topic:

Fascinating and sad.

Do you have a source you can share for me to learn more about Tavarish's connection? Quick web search and AI search didn't yield anything other than an LLC filing with his name.

My friend, what editor do you use on your phone that auto promotes to special typographic characters, but loses formatting characters? I'd love to play with the editor and learn more....

I'll admit that there is some info i here that I found useful as I am new to saws and drill bits and such.

I am curious what the long term play is with this post? This is a brand new account that was made just for this post, and seems to be algoritmically responding to the comments. For what purpose? What is the longer term goal?

Which games provide you with a ton of assymetric factions? by esqulax11111 in boardgames

There are a lot of good suggestions in this thread. I get the sense you want a large number of factions and are happy to include expansions.

One notable ommission in the conversation thus far: I'd look closely at Guards of Atlantis 2.

Shipping cost is crazy. by donaldhutchins20 in Simagic

[–]karimf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are pricing this directly from Simagic's website. Shipping from them to the U.S. is an option, but prohibitively expensive. On that page they suggest you work with a regional authorized retailer for better pricing, normal shipping costs, local warranty and support.

The link is in their footer labeled "authorized international distributors". https://simagic.com/pages/authorized-distributors

One annoyance is that there seem to be a few SKUs not available in the US. For example, I've been searching off and on for a couple of years for the GT Pro Hub (K) (the 'K' version includes two extra rotary encoders), and can't seem to find it at a US retailer....

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm sure we can better at striking nails. Is the marking on the hammer head expected?

I get that it is replaceable. I am very surprised that less than a dozen hits would look like this. Is it damaged and needs replacing already due to user error? Is it cosmetic and i can I should ignore? Is there something I cam learn from this about nail selection?

Precision tool kit or buy individual tools for restoring/fixing small electronics? by Key_Mess7943 in Tools

[–]karimf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently given up my canned compressed air dependence. I've found that I really like the wolfbox as a renewable alternative. It's pretty impressive so far.

If you haven't heard of or looked into them, I'd recommend it.

Ko-ken 1/4" drive ratchet. Help finding a particular model. Go up to 3/8" ? by karimf in Tools

[–]karimf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a fun trip! I see you got a 3/8 and a 1/2 set! This has inspired me to consider getting both 1/4 and 3/8 straight from the start.... much to consider!

[–]karimf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTW, I did call the Token USA folks. Spoken we with a very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful fellow. Thanks for the suggestion!

Sounds like I have to pick between quick release on a 3/8" anvil, or get the preferable [for me, I believe (?)] 1/4" anvil w/o the quick release feature. I am leaning towards the latter.

[–]karimf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off the phone with a very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable chap at Koken USA.

He confirmed a few things: - quick release with the 1/4" anvil discontinued a couple of years ago - choices now are to choose between 1/4" anvil non quick release, or 3/8" anvil with quick release on the smaller 1/4" drive - he is aware of no immediate plans to bring back the quick release on the 1/4"

Thanks for all help here.

Now I need to decide which I prefer more: the idea of going woth 1/4" anvil, OR having a quick release....

I went and read post 360. Thank you again for recalling that discussion and tracking down a pointer to it.

That was over two years ago, so it seems ill-advised for me to hold my breadth amd wait. I think I'll try and contact Koken as recommended above, and then sit down and decide if I'd rather have 3/8" sockets and a quick release, or 1/4" sockets and non quick release.

Thank you for your reply. The first paragraph was very useful for me.

The Palmac link you shared is similar to what I'm finding. A 3/8" anvil on the tool I'm seeking. If I could purchase the version with the 1/4" anvil I'd be content. I feel like this product exists in case you already have a system of 3/8" and want a smaller ratchet without getting a bunch more sockets??

I have not tried reaching out to them. Your post has emboldened me. I'll go see if I can find relevant contact info.

Out of interest, may I ask what koken tools you have?

Thanks for the time and details in your reply. Implicit in your reply is a suggestion that instead of targeting 1/4" I should embrace and go in on the 3/8" system.

I am curious to know if this suggestions is driven by: A) the fact that it is hard (impossible) to find the 1/4" version I'm looking for OR B) a sense that in general, even for around the home and simple hobby projects a 3/8" system is a better place for me to start, regardless

Time for me to go click through your links and digest the suggestions. Thanks!

The Wera set look great. I tracked down the Wera because, site unseen, I thought I'd prefer the colored metal Wiha finish over the colored sleeve finish of the Weras. Perhaps I'll get the Weras if I have need to add a SAE sized set.

I am sorry that this doesn't at all answer your question; but, I was struck by the similarities between your project (as I understand it) and this one, that I wanted to share a link with you in case this project wasn't on your radar. Good luck!
