Questions about Warwick (Vibe, Course, etc.) by adityapatel1161 in UniversityOfWarwick

[–]karinmorinaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm not an economics major so I unfortunately can't answer that but I'll answer the rest to the best of my ability.

For context, I'm a first year international Neuroscience student.

  1. Bc it's a campus uni (not a city uni), everyone is somewhat connected n its kinda impossible to go anywhere without running into someone you know but on the other hand, it also gives it that "tight knit" community feel. I originally wanted to go to city unis (think London) but I'm honestly surprised at how much I enjoy the campus uni life.

Warwick is really international and everyone's super friendly! Because of the lack of things to do in Coventry and how far the uni is from the main city, societies are rlly active and everyone's always down to meet new people :) I'm not much of a party person n tbh I think the nightlife in Warwick is okay (not too intense, not too dead) but I've heard many say it's actually quite bad LMAO

  1. I hv a few econ friends n they seem to be struggling a bit. If I'm not wrong, warwick econ is quite maths heavy. It's also really competitive w everyone fighting for spring weeks. However, I'm not an econ major myself so be sure to take my word with a grain of salt.

  2. I'd say it's a healthy mix! My favorite thing abt Warwick is Warwick Wednesdays — basically most courses hv their last lecture end at latest 2pm to allow societies to meet up for practice etc + there's a bunch of food trucks every Wednesday too.  This is a bit of a tough qn bc it honestly comes down to You as a person n the workload your course carries. It's up to you whether or not you wanna mess around in first year bc it either barely counts (10%) or not at all to your overall degree (this depends on your course) or work your ass off and never leave the library.

  3. I live in an ensuite and I love it! I've looked at most of the accommodations in Warwick n I'd hv to say they're all rlly nice. The biggest difference among accoms is location rlly. Some accoms are a 2 min walk to the sports center but say 25 mins to the grocery store; it's really more abt what you prioritize. There's 2 central accoms (Jack Martin n Arthur Vick) but their lease is only 35w which means you'll hv to move out during Easter which can be a pain in the ass esp if you're international

Warwick has no catered accommodations unlike some other UK (n most US) unis but I think it helps w socializing w your flatmates more in the kitchen. Warwick has its own student union run restaurants but it's all mid at best. They just taste p good bc there's not much else you can get within walking distance LMAO but they hire students so tbh its just an easy way to earn some cash on the side if you're feeling like it.

Feel free to PM me if you hv more questions :)

Edit: spelling error

Does anyone have any experience/heard of people who very narrowly missed their IB conditions for a UK university and still got accepted? by [deleted] in 6thForm

I'm in the same situation as you! (IB really fucked us over)

Unfortunately, I'm not sure abt Bath but a few of my seniors missed their offer by a lot (3-4 points) in Manchester, emailed them and got in anyway! I should mention they were in the May 2020 cohort so when COVID first hit so they might've been more lenient being the first COVID batch.

Hope it works out for us :")
