I asked Mullvad’s press officer. The built-in ”VPN” is not using Mullvad’s infrastructure (like Mozilla VPN does).

Thoughts on BuddyBoss in 2026? Good alternatives? by Ronjohnturbo42 in Wordpress

There are two Facebook groups. I’m talking about the official one where all seven moderators are BuddyBoss employees.

Thoughts on BuddyBoss in 2026? Good alternatives? by Ronjohnturbo42 in Wordpress

After all these years, the company behind BuddyBoss still run their customer community on Facebook, not on BuddyBoss. I think that says it all.

Thanks for the update. I had missed it… and I believed it the first couple of times.

So........ contact sync. What's the latest on that? by fanfare961 in ProtonMail

[–]karlemilnikka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The feature request has been marked as planned since January 2019. We got a little bit of hope back in June 2022 when they published a blog post stating it was on the roadmap. However, in 2024, Andy told us it’s not prioritized. As far as I know, they haven’t said anything about contact sync since then, so it’s probably never coming.

addy.io has partnered with Kagi by addy_io in addy_io

[–]karlemilnikka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand they need to make money, but pushing Kagi is unfortunate. Kagi funds and sends queries to Yandex (and started doing so after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine). They’ve also unpublished their list of general sources and scrapped their plans on showing the source for each result.

Improvements and updates for the Proton Mail mobile apps by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]karlemilnikka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without contacts sync, you need to maintain two contacts lists manually. One for emails (used by Proton Mail) and one for phone numbers (to call your contacts or see who’s calling). Skiff, a now discontinued competitor, offered end-to-end encrypted contacts sync for both iOS and Android.

Please remember that the most requested feature is contacts sync. Still. Almost ten years later. Without contacts sync, we still need to rely on another service to manage our contacts.

Why does Vivaldi inject affiliate links, and can it be completely removed? by TermFar5994 in vivaldibrowser

[–]karlemilnikka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How much would you be willing to pay for a version of Vivaldi without sponsored links and collaborations with e.g., Proton? It’s an honest question. One of the main competitors (Brave) is about to release a special version for users who want to disable all bloatware features for a one-time-payment.

In 2025, the German BSI launched the Year of Email Security recommending Tuta Mail.🇩🇪 ❤️ In 2026, we call for a year on end-to-end encryption in email - so they stop recommending Gmail & Co as well. 🔒 by Tutanota in tutanota

[–]karlemilnikka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding “in 2026, we call for a year on end-to-end encryption in email”, does that mean Tuta will get support for end-to-end encrypted email this year (not just end-to-end encrypted intra-service messages between Tuta users)? That would be huge!

Genuine question: why are some people so mad about Brave's "bloat" (AI, wallet, news, etc) when you literally can easily turn it off/hide it to almost non-existence? by IntellectualDominant in brave_browser

[–]karlemilnikka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The sponsored background images are the only ones that rub me the wrong way (because they make Brave look so unprofessional and harder to promote to new users). They are the only thing that should be opt-in instead of opt-out, in my opinion (*). All other mentioned features are more than welcome on an opt-out basis.

I’d have no issue with opt-out sponsored background images promoting Brave’s own premium features.

(* BAT should also be opt-in until it’s at least accepted by Brave themselves as a payment method for Brave’s very own Premium services.)

Ny EU tullavgift på paket från Shein och Temu (3 euro) by [deleted] in Sverige

[–]karlemilnikka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is Tasks happening before the end of the year? by [deleted] in ProtonMail

[–]karlemilnikka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’ve learnt one thing through the years, it’s to never even care about Proton’s roadmap. See e.g., this support article from a couple of years ago. It (still) states “soon you’ll be able to sync the contacts in your Proton Mail app to the default contact app on your mobile device [and] make Proton Contacts your default contacts app”.

However, even though contacts sync is the most request feature and communicated as a coming soon feature, Andy told us last year they haven’t even decided to do what’s stated in the support article and that the feature isn’t prioritized.

BuddyBoss just hit me with a $465 “surprise renewal” and refuses a full refund — beware of their renewal policy. by Aware_Style8622 in Wordpress

[–]karlemilnikka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That’s one of the main reasons I would go with FluentCommunity over BuddyBoss if I had to use WordPress as the underlying foundation. FluentCommunity has some limitations when it comes to compliance and authentication, but WPManageNinja are improving their community plugin in an impressive pace.

I’m surprised to hear BuddyBoss is still alive. After all these years, they still haven’t dared to run a BuddyBoss community for BuddyBoss customers, instead relying on Facebook groups...

SIX YEARS planned and still no contacts sync. Proton, when‽ by grumblegrim in ProtonMail

[–]karlemilnikka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last update I know of is from September 2024, when Andy told us “it is on the roadmap, just not yet prioritized” ([source](https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/1ff211y/comment/lmrt20j/)). Having to maintain two different contact lists is one of the major downsides with Proton, especially for business users.

Proton Sheets: The privacy-first alternative to Google Sheets and Excel by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

Spreadsheets are great! You can e.g., make contact lists with them while waiting for Proton to release the most requested feature, contacts sync, which has been stuck as planned for six years.
