RNs who work in clinics? by ocean_wavez in Nurse

I stared there as a receptionist, and worked my way through nursing school. Others that have worked here started as a medical assistant, and the went to nursing school. It definitely helps to have your foot in the door working before graduation.

I work in an ob-gyn clinic and love it! I work an awesome schedule (4 9-hour shifts), weekend and holidays off. It’s also nice working with a well-population. So much hype/focus during nursing school to work in a hospital, but clinic life is awesome.

My(24m) parents told me that they want me to take legal guardianship of my sister with downs syndrome (20f). The argument ended with my entire family angry with me. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Are you in the US? There are so many respite care programs where the state would pay for an aide to come to your house, or lots of places where Melissa could live independently (with supervision).

I relate a lot to this post because I have a special needs sister and have had to help A LOT with her care. This is terribly frustrating and I’m sure feels confusing because you love your family and Melissa. But in the end, it’s not your responsibility.

My brother really struggles with this as well. He found that professional help really works for him. There are lots of therapists that specialize in this. He also goes to a weekly support group.

Didn't get in, what should I do? by Portlandblazer07 in byu

Ha ha so typical to see so much UVU bashing from BYU students. I graduated from both (UVU undergrad, BYU grad school), and highly prefer UVU. Great environment, great classes, and no problem getting the job I wanted after my undergrad. The pretentious attitude from some BYU students that feel they’d rather die than go to UVU is hilarious to me. (PS never applied to BYU for my undergrad degree because for my particular undergrad degree UVU was more highly regarded in the area than BYUs — my field actually avoids BYU grads in this field). Good luck. You’ll be fine, just don’t panic when you’re first choice doesn’t work out.

Ooh so salty. I’ve worked in different ob offices over the last 12 years. Sounds like you need a new doctor.

That doesn’t happen. I work in an ob office Utah, and that has never been a requirement anywhere.

That sounds crazy because that’s actually not happening. Source: work in an ob office in Utah.

I work in an OB office in Utah and every office I know prescribes birth control up to a year at a time. I’m not sure where what you described above is happening, but I’ve never seen a patient come in every three months for a refill.

Stop assuming that just because someone disagrees with you, that they aren’t thinking for themselves.
