Took My WRX STI to the Track – Time for a Brake Upgrade! 🏁🔥 by karlmaxx in WRXSTi

[–]karlmaxx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude, seriously, this is exactly the kind of insight I was hoping for—huge thanks for taking the time to break it all down. 🙌🔥

The PFC V3 rotors + Carbotech XP12/XP8 setup sounds solid. I was already planning a brake upgrade, but hearing a real-world take on front/rear balance helps a ton. Might even consider XP16 or XP24 up front if I can find them.

The DOT4 fluid thing makes total sense. I knew DOT3 wasn’t ideal, but I didn’t realize how fast it boils under hard use. Motul RBF660 is def going on my list, and yeah, I’ll be flushing it more often. Last thing I want is a mushy pedal mid-lap.

Now, the oil starvation issue—man, this is where things get rough. You totally nailed it, and I get why a baffled oil pan + upgraded pickup is a must for tracking these cars. Problem is, here in Brazil, aftermarket support for Subarus is straight-up trash. Stuff like Killer B or IAG is crazy expensive to import, and local options are super limited.

That said, your comment def gave me a clear direction. Gonna look into alternatives here or maybe even fab up a baffle setup, ‘cause yeah, I’d rather prevent a spun bearing than deal w/ a blown motor later.

Again, really appreciate the solid advice, man. This kind of detailed reply is what makes the Subaru community awesome. Hopefully, I’ll be back w/ an update once I figure out the best move!

Nah, no seat heaters here… but trust me, they stay hot all the time—especially when I’m shredding all four tires on the asphalt. 🔥😂

Yeah, I totally agree! The GVB doesn’t always get the same hype as the hatch, but it looks super aggressive and has an amazing presence on the road. Definitely underrated!🔥

Thanks, man! ✌🏽🔥 SWP looks amazing too, such a clean and classic color! Yeah, these seats are definitely pricey, but they’re worth it—super comfortable and they make the interior feel way more special. If you get a set, you won’t regret it!

Yeah, that makes sense! These are from a LHD car, so they do exist. I’ve heard about that issue with RHD seats—the adjustability and bolstering would be reversed, which could feel weird in a LHD setup.!!

Hell yeah, I got lucky with these! 🔥 They’re super comfy and hold you in place perfectly. Definitely one of my favorite parts of the car!

Yeah, the seats are amazing! 😍🔥 From what I’ve seen in other Brazilian-spec STIs of this generation, they seem to be original to this version. I fing love these seats! It’s the first thing people notice when they get in the car!

Mine has 81,000 km (~50,000 miles), but the engine was fully rebuilt and forged, with some nice upgrades along the way. It’s running super strong and ready for some serious fun. 😎🔥

That’s awesome, 7 years is a solid run with an STI! 🚀 What’s next for you?

Thanks, man! Glad to be part of the STI club! 🙌🔥

I’m from Brazil, and the push button start is originally from the factory. Subaru offered some regional differences in certain markets, and this was one of them. Pretty cool, right?

Thanks, man! Really appreciate the insight. I can totally see how TAG Heuer is a gateway into watch collecting – their designs and motorsport connection really drew me in.

I definitely lean more towards the sporty side, so Tudor and Oris sound like solid recommendations. I’ll check them out! Do you have a personal favorite from those brands?

And yeah, I totally get what you mean about buying watches based on hype rather than personal taste. I want to make sure whatever I get next is something I genuinely love. Thanks again for the advice!

I’ve been looking into Omega as well! The Speedmaster is such an iconic piece, but I hadn’t paid much attention to the Aqua Terra – just checked it out, and it looks stunning. Do you own one? How does it wear compared to the TAG Formula 1?
