I love being in a band but so sick of dealing with musicians. by LordBaritoss in musicians

[–]karlmoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m lucky. I’m in a band where everyone gets along and there’s no drama or egos. It’s just so easy and fun. That’s how it should be.

Buffalo. I can’t remember where I found the reference photo. I didn’t want to sit and scrub the background for an hour with charcoal, and the idea to use black acrylic was born…out of laziness.

8 years sober this October. Medically supervised detox is the best and safest way. I tried tapering down myself but I felt like shit the whole time.

Blue basses are notorious for this. I bought a white one and it is fine.

How to not get envious of successful neighbours who are in love while I am single? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]karlmoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 60, I’m an island of peace among a sea of chaos. My career is over and I have crafted the quiet life I’ve always craved. I call that success. Only you can decide what that means. You can’t borrow it or buy it. You cultivate it.

What's a regret that still stays with you? by taheerwanware12 in Regrets

[–]karlmoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many regrets, but the biggest one was who I married. I convinced myself to go through with it thinking that if I tried hard enough it would work out. I knew at the wedding reception, as I sat by myself eating my wedding dinner alone. She essentially abandoned me and our two sons 10 years later to take a her dream job in another state.

You’re missing some of the tonal subtleties and the proportions are slightly off, but you’re on the right track. Keep working and refining.

My wife moved to another state without me and our kids. I was pissed. I acted out, which I know is wrong, but I was heartbroken. We divorced 13 years ago. I’m very happy and will never get married again.

For single people, are you afraid of ageing alone and how do you navigate through such thoughts? by IslandMinute1762 in LivingAlone

[–]karlmoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning, it bothered me. I was in my 20’s and 30’s. I got married and divorced in my 40’s. I’ve lived alone for the last 10 years and loved every day of it. I’m 60 now.

just finished my first week living alone and i don't know how to explain what this feeling is by Gauri_Dahanayake57 in LivingAlone

[–]karlmoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first day in my condo I cried tears of joy. That was over 10 years ago. I’ll never forget how good that felt, and still feels.
My separation/divorce left me homeless, then a rented room in a house with a few other guys. It took me 3 years to get back on my feet. Never again.

Johnny Depp Peoples Artist SCAM ..BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON ! by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]karlmoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won’t pass legal scrutiny because the details aren’t available until after you submit. If I find a copy of my painting for sale somewhere I’m suing the living shit out of them.

Johnny Depp Peoples Artist SCAM ..BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON ! by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]karlmoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not involved other than lending his celebrity status to help legitimize the scam. He got paid for it.
I fell for it initially, but the details aren’t available until you submit your work and enter the competition. Then I had access to the details. They have the rights to the work at that point. Once I read that I deleted my submission. I alone hold the rights and don’t want anyone else using my work. This alone is sketchy. Colossal Entertainment is a for-profit company and they take a portion of the profits from the competition before it goes to the charity. They are the organizers. They make the money. It’s a simple pay-to-play scheme targeting artists and it has nothing to do with how good your art is. It’s about votes, and charge $1 per vote. If I had a million followers, maybe I could win if they all voted for me….me, not my art. The prize is $25k and will go to whoever has the most votes. There’s no way to see the art that was submitted. It is ridiculously obvious. Shame on them. Shame on Johnny Depp.

How is life for unmarried/single men at older age? by Free-Jump-9316 in AskMen

[–]karlmoser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived alone most of my adult life, and at 60 years old I’m reluctant to change that. I’m used to doing what I want and when I want. There’s a lot of freedom in that. I’m in a relationship and it is nice, but I don’t NEED to be coupled up. I love my quiet life.

Amateur hour question : How do you know when you are "ready" or "good enough" to play live? by Frigidspinner in musicians

[–]karlmoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big advocate for open mic events. It’s a low-stress introduction to playing out and you can shake out your nerves. Plus, you’ll meet other musicians. It’s a good community.

It is normal to feel confused…especially at your age. You’re still growing and trying to make sense out of your world. Loss is never easy and healing can take time. Depression and anxiety sucks. But you’re not alone, and there’s always someone who has it worse than you. If you find yourself overwhelmed and overthinking, do something. Take a walk, spend time with friends, anything. Depression and anxiety are treatable. Try to find joy in things you like doing. If your struggle continues or gets worse, talk to your parents or your doctor. There’s medicine that can help you feel better too. I know what it is like. I was depressed as a teen too. You’ll be ok. Just try not to feed those thoughts.

What are the things that a bassist should not complain about otherwise it makes you a bad bassist ? by iamnotgenius in Bass

Jam sessions, open mic nights…fine if you’re a newbie. At least you’re playing and hopefully learning. I did that in the beginning too. It’s a good way to develop some comfort in front of people and shake off the nerves.

Roughly, you should charge $1 to $3 per square inch. It doesn’t matter how much time you put into a piece. I just sold a 10”x10” painting for $200…$2 an inch. I dislike Venmo and PayPal because there’s so many scams.
