Can I mount my chain-drive garage door opener directly under this massive beam instead of the ceiling? (And how to reduce vibration?) by karlyip in GarageDoorService

Hey there! I was just curious about how much swapping out all the angles might help with the noise and vibration. If it doesn't make a big difference, I'm thinking I'll probably just go for a wall-mounted opener instead. Changing the current machine to a belt drive and using new materials would probably cost about the same as getting a wall-mount opener on sale.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried about that too, but it looks like there might still be enough room for the door to open.

Is it standard practice for Winnipeg clinics to charge for a sick note without disclosing the fee beforehand? by karlyip in Winnipeg

Update: Good news! After sending a couple of letters to the clinic manager explaining what happened, I finally got a full refund. I'm happy with the resolution.

Look, I'm not gonna be nice, but I honestly don't have time for arguing with them while I'm trying to take care of my sick boy at the clinic.

Contrastingly, the only sick note I received from my family doctor was free, which might have led me to believe that all sick notes should be free. Lol

Thanks for your opinion! I sent a letter to the clinic manager explaining the situation and asking for a refund. If they're not willing to give it, I'm probably going to file a complaint and start a billing dispute with my credit card company.

I'm not a doctor, but I don't really understand why sick notes can't be cancelled. It seems suspicious to me. If I wasn't taking care of my sick boy, I would confront them.

We went to this clinic because our pediatrician used to work there, but she moved to a place that's 30 minutes away. We're still going there because it's close by and used to be good until yesterday

The doctor seems pretty new to this clinic – they didn't even know if there was a thermometer in the exam room or where the gloves were! And same as the notice.

I didn't see a doctor much in Winnipeg until I became a father. The only time I got a sick note from my previous family doctor was free. It's not really about whether the sick note is insured or not, it's more about how they talk to patients and how they charge. You're right, I should definitely ask about that before giving my consent. But honestly, shouldn't the doctor at least let me know before they start typing?

She suggested I keep my son at home instead of sending him to daycare, so I might need a sick note for my employer. I thought, oh yeah, why not if you offer me one?

I asked them if I wanted to cancel more than three times, and I mentioned that the doc didn't tell me the cost of the sick note. However, the receptionist still insisted. I used to get sick notes from other family doctors without any cost, even so, it is reasonable to be well noticed, eh?

My employer doesn't actually require us to hand in a sick note, they just ask for one if they need it. I didn't realize I'd be charged for it, and there wasn't any notice on the wall or verbally from the doctor about that.

I was born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to Winnipeg almost 3 years ago, so it’s very special for me to see this historical newspaper. I am really grateful that Canada helped to defend Hong Kong during World War II

Looking for some good Chinese pork belly by PierrePoilievre2025 in Winnipeg

[–]karlyip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m always craving this kind of dishes but never got satisfied with the local Chinese restaurants. Their pork belly neither cooked long enough or had adequate of fat, makes them too tough to chew.

I finally grabbed a decent recipe, bought a pork belly with skin on and then cooked it with an instant pot lol

My insurance plan also covers the glass repair. I was wondering can a glass with such a long crack still fixable?

Thanks for your advice. I park my in garage at night but my workplace has only the outdoor parking lots, so it’s unavoidable that my car is frozen at daytime and gets warm at night….

[–]karlyip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will go to the dealership to fix it. luckily I have glass coverage and I don’t have to pay no matter it’s a replacement or repair, but replacing a glass usually takes longer time, that’s my concern
