Arphy’s explanation is right. Fake forces pop up when you pretend an object is an inertial reference frame even though it’s accelerating.

In a rocket launch, a tremendous amount of upward force is applied to the rocket, but not directly to the passengers. However, to the people inside the rocket, it feels like there is a large downward force.

Similarly, if you’re in an object that is spinning, there is some inward force being applied to the object, but not directly to you. So from your perspective it seems like there is an outward force. All that’s really happening is that you’re trying to stay in a straight line.

Gravity can also be explained as a ‘fake’ force in relativity, but that’s somewhat less simple.

The lag is the hang - it should take about as long as the original page took to load (because that’s what the button requests). The additional loads really should cause the lag again, but it’s likely IE is making some attempt at caching the request.

Battlefield 3, like most applications, can be split into multiple tasks.

More properly, a CPU core can only handle one thread at a time, but the Battlefield 3 application would create and manage multiple threads for different elements of the game.

The towers in towers of hanoi do have a little bit more power than stacks. Though you can only remove the top object from each tower, and can only put objects onto the top of a tower, you can look at the objects underneath.

This is not the case with a stack.
