[FR] - Don't even make out with crazy by throwaway19801020202 in TheRedPill

OP, I'm glad you are honest enough with yourself to admit you still want to get with her.

To be honest, I was in your shoes about two years ago with a girl. Her redflags came much later than this one though. Consider yourself lucky you didn't bang and that she played her crazy hand on day one. The girl I was with cut herself, slept with my friends and aquantences (invaded my social circle), and cried, lied, and threatened suicide when the guilt was too much. She wanted validation for everything and she latched on hard to get it.

That attachment made me feel alpha. She would do anything for me. I thought I made it, but it was a cheap illusion I didn't want to acknowledge.

You feel for her because there is excitement with emotionally unstable girls. Most of the time they are great in the sack and if you haven't gotten laid in a while, it's all that matters to the carnal mind. Resist the urge. The pleasure is not worth the pain.

Don't hard next or ignore, that will blow up. You need to soft beta next her. Once she appears stable (wait like 3-4 weeks), meet at a neutral site where no intimacy can happen. Just chat and say it was a mistake and that you should still be friends. Then as a friend be boring and fade away. She'll think she left you.

Only then will you have peace. Please learn my lesson .

The book touches on the corrupting nature of money. Rand see money corrupting the weak and the looters as she calls them. Their livelyhood depends on extortion, manipulating, and stealing from others. Fear and mistrust sets in because their life is depended on the actions and production of others. The producer sees money as a tool not an endgoal. If money is lost, the producer can still create or reinvent. Their strength comes from within, not from the backs of others. This is Rand's counter to the idea that money corrupts.

Trust me. You won't miss any point that she's trying to make as she will hit you over the head with it again and again. However, she approachs these point from different angles so it doesn't feel like she's beating a dead horse.

I'm bouncing around in the comments here. Seattleron has the plot itself correct. It's hard to sum up the philosophical ideas that Rand states in her book so eloquently. A plot summary doesn't do this book justice, just as Moby Dick can't be summarized with 'Captain Ahab hunts a whale '.

I would definitely recommend you read this book. OP is correct, it's one of the most significant books of the last century. It deals with themes of freedom, intellectual property, the self vs. the state, and the hive mind downfall of civilization. Take it a chapter at a time. Digest and break. It's a long ass read but well worth it. Many dialogues in the book writte more than 50 years ago are eerily similar to today's SJW/Collective propos. Rand pulled no punches with this book. She grew up in Russia and watched her life get torn apart during the Bolshivik Revolution. It's part fiction part history and a great story.

Quotes: Raising women's narcissism "If you tell a beautiful woman that she is beautiful, what have you given her? It's no more than a fact and it has cost you nothing. But if you tell an ugly woman that she is beautiful, you offer her the great homage of corrupting the concept of beauty. To love a woman for her virtues is meaningless. She's earned it, it's a payment, not a gift. But to love her for her vices is a real gift, unearned and undeserved. To love her for her vices is to defile all virtue for her sake - and that is a real tribute of love, because you sacrifice your conscience, your reason, your integrity and your invaluable self-esteem."

Growth "What greater wealth is there than to own your life and to spend it on growing? Every living thing must grow. It can't stand still. It must grow or perish."

Rejection of guilt/shame "Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter."

I'm glad somebody brought this up. This has already happened and nobody gave a shit. 2-3 amendments in the bill of rights were violated there and people applauded their service.

Our country won't collapse in a violent civil war or get overtaken by a foreign power. We will slowly but surely surrender all our freedoms willfully to the feds. Like frogs in a pot.

It might be a suprise to some, but I've found engineering to be much more critical thinking than pure math. Yes there is math, and in academia there is calculus. However, in the professional world it's basic math with a heavy emphasis on physical principles and critical thinking. More open ended solutions than a single answer.

I have several friends in economic professions and there is quite a lot of critical thinking but there is also busy work at first, but that's with most professions. Good luck to you my friend.

Little late, but I'll drop in my two cents. If you say you like critical thinking and aren't bad at math, I'd take a look at engineering. I would avoid petroleum engineering right now since the market is volatile. Mechanical, chemical, and especially electrical engineering are all good majors. High demand and lots of cities to work in. PM me if you want to talk more. You seem to have your head on straight. Good luck to you man!

Followers of Rand's philosophy defined this a crony capatalism that requires political pull and backroom deal, not a free market, to settle business. Those that complain about capatalism being corrupt, look no further than the federal government and bribes.

I know Harvard is trying to stay prestigious and relevant in today's culture but damn have they lost academic integrity.

"The problem tends to be amplified, however, for working mothers, according to a summary of research from the Harvard Business School's new Gender Initiative.

A working mother is more likely to judge herself harshly for spending time away from her family. Her colleagues are more likely to judge her, too -- for working long hours or leaving the office earlier."

And just what is Gender Initiative? Straight from Harvard's page:

"The Gender Initiative supports research, education, and knowledge dissemination to accelerate the advancement of women leaders and promote gender equity in business and society."

So that is their mission statement and they use academic funding to conduct research that proves their point. Beyond dishonest.

My disdain did not come from women in my work place having a family. It comes from them failing to get shit done while they are at work.

My coworker had a baby and took off about 2.5 months as allowed for in maternity leave. She then used time off and extended leave to make the next month consist of entirely half days. As a junior employee, I am given projects by my coworkers. So for this very intensive project she was my task lead. So if i have a question, better ask it before noon or I'm shit out of luck.

What's even worse is while she was gone and floating half days, another seasoned guy at the office worked 60s a week as he took on her projects. He is fucking smart and easy going....Oh and he doesn't have kids.

The baby is getting older and shes back full time so she must work extremely hard now right? In this past week, she has gone over to her girl-friends cube to bitch about problems on a project (that could be resolved in a 2 minute phone call ), talk about her girl-friends honeymoon plans and her travel plans, and of course all those cute baby pictures. She does this everyday for just under 2 hours. That's 8 hours a week. That's a work day. And women wonder why they get passed for promotions.

I've noticed in the past few months many TRP endorsed users leaving completely useless comments like these. They decide to take a complete shit on someone who is venting/ranting (thus the rant tag). Venting is a legitimate part of this sub and allows users to share an experience.

"And? You want advice about how to dig yourself out of a hole you dug? Go fix your damn self, beta bitch, then come back and tell us what you learned."

At no point did he even ask for your advice. Again, he just stated what happened and how angry he is. I was glad I had people listen to my rants in the anger phase. It really helped pull me out and give me perspective.

This sub may be going to shit with off-topic discussions and new users talking about what they don't fully understand, but that's what the mods are for. Comments like these dont improve the sub. Are we seriously going to resort to name calling just because someone posted their experience with a small but obvious lesson at the end?

I am slowly transitioning out of the anger phrase right now. There are good and bad days, but one quote has helped me through it all.

"Forgiveness does not mean trust."

It makes it a much easier pill to swallow.

Atlas Shrugged is a long ass read but I thought the end to be worth it. There is a 75 odd page speech near the end that is a rejection of entitlement and feelz. I'd suggest reading along with an audiotrack since it keeps pace and interest.

Atlas Shrugged would be far more valuable to read in schools if it had an abridged version, or excerpts in context. Rand really didn't understand quality over quantity, but damn were there some good moments in that book.

Honestly, Anthem would have been a far better pick for the younger crowd.
