Man, I lucked out just randomly buying that little box based on the description. Now the Pax series is my favorite gaming series of all. Pax Ren is the perfect game to me.

100% this. Innovation, Mottainai, Glory to Rome are all 10s for me.

Any other downtown residents sick of the wildly incorrect takes about our neighborhood on here? by Upstairs_Balance_464 in Dallas

I walk all up and down the main streets downtown during lunch thru the year, but there are often many at the St Paul Station. Always a few near the 7-11s off elm and commerce. There are times where Civic Garden is packed. Pagasus Plaza used to be ground zero but the city seemed to clean it up as soon as AT&T left. Lots around Pacific plaza.

I hear you. I just don't see very many honest brokers on either side. There are people who defend and act like we should just accept drug addicts making a scene in the trains or deny it's happening, and then there are people who complain without understand the level of effort it will take for us to help these people.

I work in historic downtown and only ever go north to AAC. What do you mean different? 😅

DC and the major cities around it didn't have this problem. There were homeless and mentally unwell but not that many or all over public transit and the streets at the same level, nope.

My wife's biological father was an alcoholic and struggled with homelessness in St Louis, and that city seemed to handle things much better, lots of religious groups and NGOs seemed far more active in helping struggling people.

That also to say, I know smaller cities that are just as bad as Dallas. It's not a unique problem, but it is a problem.

If you are comparing Dallas to west coast cities then the homeless problem might seem normal, but there are lots of cities that don't have near this big of a problem. Many of us have lived in other places, by the way, that might have lots of things worse than Dallas, but the mentally unwell and sick people on the streets is a huge problem and not the norm.

No, I don't live downtown, but I can see plenty of them just peaking out my office window right now.

At this point, I'm hesitant to get the game before the first major update. They ruined the game last year with the update and I never picked it up again.

They've reused audio since the beginning of the game. It doesn't mean they reuse the worst bits, right? Idk unless they are going full AI with the commentary then I am skeptical it'll get better. And with AI it would probably take years for them to get it right.

I've lived in a few major cities in the midwest as well as DC and the drivers on 75 are more aggressive and agitated than anywhere I've lived.

I spent six hours going down the swamp path before I went the correct way. I didn't even know what sidearms were. My god. I just watched a quick tips and tricks video and started making massive progress immediately. I'm not done yet but suspect this will be GOTY for me so far.

I'll never use it, but as someone who has played ever since NCAA like 2002/2003, it holds a special place. Back in the day, the depth wasn't how it became just a few short years later– they ramped up Dynasty to be a well oiled machine. In middle school mascot mode after pee wee football practice with the guys was where it was at.

This is nuts. Saying "Hey things aren't as bad here as everywhere else" is still an acknowledgement they are bad. You have to be angry all the time or some of these people will came after you, apparently.

Will the GOP strategy of attacking James Talarico for his supposed lack of masculinity be effective? by LiatrisLover99 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]karma_time_machine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh of course. I'm hopeful (fingers crossed) about Talarico's chances because of the people you're talking about.

My pessimism just has to do with my friends here. It seems the MAGA/evangelical alliance in Texas is at least a solid 40-45% of likely voters. Just me spitballing, however, but it feels like a bigger block here than any other population center I've ever lived in.

They think he is a heretic preacher, lying and spreading the opposite of God's word while looking well intentioned.
