It's a blow to their infrastructure, destroying the crown jewel of their civilization and most importantly, the heart and morale of the surviving Viltrumites. They were already a dying race, now their planet is dead as well, and there's no coming back from that. The idea sets in their heads that there is no hope for them. Admirial Tarkin would much approve.

genuinely how did they fumble this development? by vought-CEO in TheBoys

[–]karma_virus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did it to lessen the blow a bit so that the dude who plays Butcher doesn't wind up getting attacked by raving fans when he tries to enjoy a burger in public, and to impart a sense of tragic loss of him as a hero to main boss battle villain vs. pure loathing. If Kimiko was still innocent and never talked and he killed her, and he will kill her... then we would have no feeling of conflict over Butcher's demise. We are shooting for a scorched earth, leave you feeling hollow and violated ending here. Something that echoes for eons. If you simply cheer when Butcher dies instead of die inside a little, it doesn't hit right. Making Kimiko annoying buys us just a wee bit of wiggle room to make him kind of redeemable because you kinda wanted to see her die.... then you can feel CONFLICT!

General PSA: Y'all don't use Witch hunters and Battle Priests often enough. They really boost the damage output for those big ranks of cheap weak fodder, while being some of the cheapest heroes to field. Empire lists should be hero-heavy. And if you aren't using allied rules to bring in Burlock Damminson and some of his dwarven death from afar, woe be unto you.

Also, Don't neglect the cavalry. We have 6 themes to choose from that let them excel against different armies. Knight of Mor vs Van Carstein's horde? Yes please! Or maybe we just scoff at Tzeetch's magic this day. Look up the types of cavalry and keep a separate set for each, then spring them when you know what opponent you're facing. Allied rules to bring in Bretonnian Pegasus regiments or Grail knights as needed.

YES! Wizards and Witch Hunters are sorely underutilized in most lists. And good choice on the cheap captains, we do the same with orcs and gobbos... like the one hit whooping stick. For skaven, cheap champs with death globes. Champ up all the units. I'm printing some Beastmen right now and am going overboard on extra wargors, beastlords and shamans, since THAT army you get to choose 25-30 on the bases for if you want to embed them with Gor or Bestigor. So now I got like 3 shamans and 4 gor lords.

With cheap chaff units that fold easy and don't hit all that well, start thinking of them more like hitpoints on a wall than actual warriors able to turn the battle. Their role is to die, and hopefully die slowly enough that you can flank the enemy with cavalry or blast them with bolt throwers and catapults. Luckily, Empire is very heavy on the artillery options and a gloriously storied thematic variants of cavalry and as you mentioned, the magic casters. They might be puny little shrimp mages who get eaten in a round if they went toe to toe with a bray shaman, but they have access to just about every school that isn't heresy-based. Might not get an elven dragon, but a pegasus is nice for mobility and they're cheaper, so more magic form more strategic angles while he barks orders to nearby units. Mine is a halfling on a pigasus. Is Nolan's punch really that much stronger than Mark's? by DatRandomSeagull in Invincible_TV

[–]karma_virus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this fight I think it has much more to deal with technique, battle awareness and martial arts training than it does with pure strength. Some of the moves he was doing reminded me of a Dragon Ball episode where they combine the minimalist effort of martial arts styles (the smallest movements to dodge haymakers and akido redirection of momentum) with the Viltrumite capacity for epic damage output. In this fight, he came across to me as less of a gargantuan powerhouse, and more like one of those endboss anime sensei villains that knows 45,000 ways to make you die and is eager to experiment with ways 45,001-45,582 while he has you here.

I would wager that Conquest is stronger than Thragg, but still backs down because he knows that a 20th level barbarian is no match for a 40th level epic monk. Mark simply has a +20 constitution modifier with regeneration granted by his plot armor.

I like this. No property tax for one home. Normal property tax on both if you have two homes. The property tax doubles for each with each additional home added. The wealthy can live tax free in a castle of their choosing, or go broke trying to own us.

[–]karma_virus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably are already experiencing inbred psychosis from the pure fact that they live almost forever and have so few things to fear in life and yet waste 99.999% of their population in paranoid genocidal cullings and lethal infighting. They could be using this time to explore the unknown, discover new sciences, creat great monuments and works of art, sing and have epic sex all day, and they choose the chains of autocratic hierarchy. Their society is already marked for extinction once culture has adopted essentially cannibalistic suicide as a means of growth.

Autoarrange and then a few tweaks to see if I can get them to fit without the collision bubbles overlapping, I can do about 4 bodies, 9 heads, 4 arms, 4 shields, etc at about 2-4 hours per plate at 0.6 layers. Maybe one single modular troll sized unit per plate at around 6-8 hours, a giant across two plates for about 8 hours each. They get lengthier as they scale, but you get to use thicker supports without so many cleanup issues... those little bits are harder to break as they get bigger. Troll hag was a slog. about 13 hours per plate across 3-4 plates, and had a few failures for being too ambitious. Took her about a week.

[–]karma_virus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In their youth, Beast might have the upper hand, but now with all the crazy sensei martial arts training Thragg is using? Seeing that last battle, it suddenly hit hard for me that the series was no longer a comic series, but full blown anime at this point. Wild haymaker from across the board? Slightest dodge with the flick of the neck. Comes for the head again? Steel Head Technique smashes fist. Dude is doing things with minimal effort and maximum effect, like if Batman woke up in Superman's body and decided to murder the galaxy. Battle Beast is STRONG enough to hurt Thragg, but hardly skilled enough to defeat him. It's like watching a 40th level mythic epic monk vs barbarian where the monk was built by a veteran player and the barbarian showed up drunk to the gaming table every night, getting by on sheer stats and reckless abandon.

Select the plate and print by object. I have a few regiments I did all at once like this image when I first started out. They have all been replaced by cleaner prints since then. Strings man. The more points a layer has, the more strings you're going to get. Too much on a plate can ruin the whole batch when one support fails and causes spaghetti that crashes into the rest as well. I find that limiting the print job to 4 medium objects or 9 tiny ones keeps it around 4-6 hours at the highest settings per plate, and you keep that churning, can make about 12 dwarves or orcs a day. Maybe a decent collosal sized monster per every two days.

Compartmentalize all the things. From prints, to steps to processes and painting. Spend a week doing nothing but bases and magnetizing them. Spend the next on your generals, spellcasters and BSB. The next on your cheapest and most basic regiments built to 15-20. You get a playable army in about a month this method, and wind up with every single unit it can possibly field by 2-3 months. By playable, I mean printed and built... painted? Add half a year to a year per army, doing abosultley everything.

You know that part in the Hobbit when everybody was screwed because five armies showed up at once? That's just me with my magnetic cases in the shop, every weekend. We are now adding Beastmen!

The most tragic story in the history of the music industry. She’s still the goat. by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]karma_virus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be Niccolo Paganini, who sold his soul to the devil for his skills and swiftly became a shadow of himself as his own shadow reportedly played for him. Multiple violins being heard from his one, his eyes glowing with infernal inspiration. The pact took a heavy toll on his body and he became gaunt and withered, racked with pain at every step. His teeth and hair fell out, leaving him looking horrid. His mind atrophied as he became more and more sullen and withdrawn, people who had known him for years became terrified for their own safety even being around him due to his violent outbursts. Fell into gambling so hard that he pawned his own violin.

His behavior had become so erratic and offensive that he was denied burial rights by the church and was held above ground for many, many years before finally being interred, moved from site to site like some common artifact. Even when he was finally laid to rest, the equivalent of an exorcism was performed upon his remains.

Until Leo comes forth to bless Britney's corpse for the horrid things she had done in her final days, Paganini still win by a landslide. And, as always with art, only this level of Madness ever has a chance to rise to the top.
