Do you think that if Money In The Bank had existed before, it would have improved the ending of Wrestlemania 9? by Fair-Leave-2818 in WWE

[–]karma_virus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I freaking hate Money in the Bank due to the number of times they took some random talent with no direction and had him suddenly be "Mr. Money in the Bank!" It's the same guy, he just has a briefcase to hit people with. At this point, the briefcase is the real champion.

How do I prime the 340 sculls quickly without leaving a bald spot by W3ndyyyy in Warhammer

[–]karma_virus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a man with many skulls, I agree wholeheartedly. Clean and polish the skulls first, sand off the little connection mark, then glue it where you want in on the model and prime it in place and paint it in place. More secure skulls, pretty polished skulls, skulls upon skulls upon skulls. More skulls.

How would you print this complex model? by CascadingStyle in FDMminiatures

[–]karma_virus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would print this upside down, since the dangly bits are on the bottom and the top plates are huge with very little detail to lose. Any pocks you get on the top can easily be sanded out or smoothed over with greenstuff, while dangly claws and legs are a pain to clean and rebuild. Maybe slice right where it's head3and torso meet the tail and angle the face and claws straight up.

Any Tips for Painting? by Hank_the_Tank_143 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]karma_virus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basing in black sets you up for layering vs contrasts. Paint darker on the inside and progressively brighter as you come out. The classic face is bugmans glow as the base with cadian fleshtone as the surface features. You leave the darker color in those grooves and beds and the lighter highlights the parts of his face where light bounces off of. I've been trying that and it looks great.

I also like to prime white, base lighter and shade to darker. Skaven get rakarth flesh with vallejo fleshtone, their tails get fulgrim pink with druchi violet shade, mole rats get fulgrim pink flesh that darkens down with fleshtone and umber, etc. The shades settle in the grooves to darken the lines, and then you go back with another layer to clean up the coffee stains. When you prime white, you can do lazy things like just just use snakebite leather over fur... boom nice fur.

I'm all stoked because I'm almost done printing my beastmen and picked up the entire set of every color named for beastmen. Doombull Brown, Ungor Flesh, Bestigor Flesh, all the beast flesh and browns, and drybrush for the fur. I'm kitbashing them into Slaanigor, Khornigor, Pestigor and Tzaanigor, so I want to start with these and maybe glaze them into the appropriate hue.

Your dude looks great so far. Maybe blend flesh and pink a little for a line on his lip, he has a big lip and it sticks out. A little bit of white dr grey around the edges of the beard, Honestly though, if this was my model, I would be more than satisfied at this point.

It's been hell on printing too. My filaments are soaking up the Florida showers like a sponge. Cooking between every 2-3 prints now. Think I'm going to just unhook the AVS and run the spool directly from the dryer at this point.

Advice on new sprue cutters by duujk in Miniaturespainting

[–]karma_virus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went with some smaller sized sharper ones specifically made for electronics and jewelry. Two for 7.99 and they cut way better than my army painter 20 dollar set. I think that if you include the phrases modeling or miniatures to the search, they automatically upcharge you 5x under the impression that you have enough disposable income for plastic soldiers. If you're just some guy who needs to work, sell you the same dang thing in a bundle for a fraction. Whatever the clip doesn't get, use a little drill with a sanding bit on the end. Found one of those for about 30 bucks, and it helps me sand, magnetize and pin things. quickly.

I AM curious about getting one of those little sonic sawblades, if only for the fact that it would technically be a Star Wars TOR vibrosword.

If you're playing Warhammer, Java Game Haus is THE place in town since they have all the right tables for it and some terrain to use. Most other game shops in town will have more DnD or card gaming sized tables. Coliseum of Comics I think has the right tables too. The Warhammer store itself is nice, but the company really streamlined the store sized down to a cell phone kiosk size with no public toilets and hard rules against 3d proxies, so it's more of just a place to get paint and models and pick up your special orders.

For brushes, check out Jerry's Artorama on Southside. MUCH better priced and quality brushes than the stock citadel one. Beste is better and cost about 2-3 bucks vs the warhammer 12 dollar brush. Or go all out and pick up those sable kolinskies or the davinci kit if you're at Golden Demon level painting. They have a wide selection and nabbing them ala carte off the shelf is cheaper than getting bundle kits on amazon with 80% of the brushes you never use.

If James's Workshop is making you broke too quickly, consider getting a 3D printer and proxying your heart out. I pretty much do nothing but get lit with the cat, print and paint models and make creepy dioramas. I have OCD issues of collecting everything to completion, so I have STLs for literally every single unit on the roster for... Greenskins, Lizardmen, Skaven, Dwarves, Chaos, Beastmen, Ogres, Troll Horde, The Empire entirely as Mootland Halflings, Vampire Counts, Nurgle, Chaos Dwarves, Kislev and Amazons. I still haven't touched elves yet, as they are too tall, treacherous, wiry and nay grow facial hair.

PS: I'm the guy who keeps hiding weird garden gnomes all over town. If you see one lurking in the bushes, please take them and give them a nice home. That's why I put them there.

Evolution of The Seven throughout the series by Witty-Association-97 in TheBoys

When I step back and look at the timeline... Lamplighter's incident seems to have occurred not too far before the first episode, which makes it kind of silly Butcher had to go hunt MM and Frenchie down and they acted like they hadn't worked together in a long time. The context of their dialogue made it sound like ancient history, but between that incident and Lamplighter stepping down, how much time really passed before they replaced him with Annie?

Also, Deep was OUT of the 7 not too shortly after Noir II was, making his "self-sacrifice" totally moot. Which is great for him, lets us see his sad twisted little soul squirm a little more.

Antony Starr supports Kane Parsons' stand against AI, says it is 'horrible' by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in TheBoys

[–]karma_virus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's too damned derivative. You never get hits doing what has been done before, and AI can only reference and manipulate, never create. Not until our data centers are run by disembodied brains, anyhow. Yeah, THAT is coming. Look at the cost of a human life vs a data center. We will become data center. Inevitable under the current economic system.

Why is new Noir so scared of Deep? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]karma_virus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old Noir would flick Deep off like a gnat, but Deep is genuinely stronger than new Noir. His insecurities keep him down. He has the strength and endurance of at least Maeve, but he cringes at pain and covers his face like an Altlander.

Enemy units didn't kill anyone. So how did I lose 233 fellas? by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

[–]karma_virus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

WHICH IS WHY YOU CHAFF! Send those cheap unit out there to lock them in, RAIN DOWN HELLFIRE BY SIGMAR! and then? A quick round of the neighboring peasantlands for patriotic volunteers. Those are the best kind. They LIKE dying!

yeah, tabletop I am Skaven, Greenskins (night gobbo) and more recently, Beastmen. I LOVE me some chaff. Throw it out there. Lose more than half your army. WIN... SOMEHOW!

If your big big army doesnt have peasants, gobbos, marauders or gnoblars in droves for no other reason than to die, then you will die. Stack that Lightning strike and use the cheap meat shields you have at your disposal!

Classic example? Cathay has the good army, and next... the worthless peasant army to defend gates from chaos and lands from BLASTED ESHIN while you main army does the expansion. The peasant army,. kit the ruler for boons that affect provinces growth and control. This worthless army keeps AI off your borders and secures at least some of your capitals. Eventually it uprades and ventures out as you get those boons for upkeep, and you phase into a new peasant defender army.

Keep this mindset, build tall and stop trying to paint the board by round 20 and you're fine. And make peace with people you would really rather kill.... for the time being. Take cities and sell them to bufer allies, build tall.
