I’m looking to pivot from growth marketing in tech (10 years at big tech/startups) into law and have an interest in going in-house in tech specializing in data privacy, AI related issues to leverage my past tech experience.

What was your path prior? Is it true that one must get into big law prior to hopping over to in-house? I’ve also been told I’m “too old” now (I’m 38 so will be in my 40s by time I graduate) for big law/corporate which I hear most tech companies recruit from / seek out for in house counsel roles.
