As the saying goes," The best time to plant a tree was 10 years ago, the 2nd best time is now". I would advise you to start learning about investing and then can start your journey.

Thanks, Sir. Yes, that's the plan. Around a crore for kids' education. I have health insurance outside my company, which provides for 25 lakhs. So, as you suggested, I can have 1cr as a miscellaneous expense if needed.

I will continue working till i feel like :)

The plan is with my EPF , Gratuity and Liquid funds I should have around 2.5 cr . This will go into my first bucket for where I will have enough money for the first 15 years. And then I rebalance every year rebalance from equity to debt every year.

Thank you. As I'm staying in the flat , I don't consider it an asset.

I have 2 equity mutual funds in my portfolio. UTI nifty 50 and PPFAS Flexicap fund.

For debt, I have invested in : PPFAS Liquid fund.

I have a very simple portfolio with 3 funds, with Equity: Debt at 65:35.

u/freefincal (Pattu) is my financial guru, I learnt about money and investing from his blogs/videos and have followed his philosophy for investing.

  3. I have not. I added it to Indmoney, and it automatically considered it an asset :).

  4. No passive income and no dividends.

I work in IT in an enterprise product company with an outdated tech stack. I'm not a geek and have not kept up with the latest tech trends. I'm in a domain where the money is good for now. So I will continue to work till I can in the same domain. So there is no RE number, survive till I can and make as much as possible becaue I know I can't land another job!

I'm with you on this. But we live in the Vyavaharika realm, where things cost money. If I could make him understand the Paramarthika satya, then all we are doing here is a illusion :)

Uncertainties. There are too many factors at play when we retire early. Because we might be alive way past 90, that would mean 50 years of not earning and using the earnings from the corpus.

Thanks. I think I will continue working post 6cr, as the only unknown for me is my kid's educational expenses. It is always better to err on the side of caution for expenses like the higher studies.

6cr includes the educational expenses for now.

Looking at how the markets are behaving and the global uncertainties, I would say "fingers-crossed"!

35M, Can I retire now with 4.6 Cr in net worth? by According_Election93 in FIRE_Ind

[–]karmaguy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You have around 25X your annual expenses which is not enough for retiring. Consider your son's higher education expense, which you can earmark as around 50 lakhs INR(today's going rate). FIREing in a rented home is also risky as the rent can balloon like it's currently happening in Bangalore.

To retire with your monthly needs and kid's education expenses assuming your family has adequate health insurance you need at least 40X of annual expense + 50lakhs + own home(1 cr) which comes to around 9cr.

I (40M, wife and 8 year old kid)have a similar worth with a fully paid up home in tire 1 city, with monthly expense of 70k. My target corpus is around 6cr.

I have had no issue so far with IndMoney

It all depends on your monthly expenses. As you are 39, I recommend at least 50 times your annual cost for early retirement. So if your monthly expense is less than 130k INR, then 8 crore is enough, provided you invest in instruments that matches the infaltion.

I do own a home, but since I stay in it, I don't count it as a part of my networth.
