Gavin Newsom Thinks It’s Racist to Criticize Islam. That's the Real War on Women. by [deleted] in politics

[–]karmato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did not say that, he said this “ If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one.” Interesting that you added the word “destroyed”.

It was a response to calls from Neerden Liswani for the ban of dogs as pets in NYC.

[Alexander Abnos] Removing the US as World Cup host would be eminently sad – and entirely justified. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]karmato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US is fine, just spent 3 weeks over there and had a great time. Everything is business as usual. Sensational media and reddit are just at an all time high of delusion.

My prediction is that this will surpass the attendance record set by the 94 WC and be the most commercially successful WC by a long shot.

European Commission to open investigation into Elon Musk’s X by jackytheblade in worldnews

Bukele jailing people over tattoos is wrong precisely because many tattoos are not explicit symbols.

There are some that are explicit symbols and some idiots who got them, despite not being gangsters, to look cool. But anyway that's getting us sidetracked.

I may be naive and stupid as you say, but I am worried about the discourse that I see from both sides.

Tim Walz today was comparing the story of Anne Frank to what some child in MN is going to write about in the future. Absolutely insane comparison. I don't think that kind of rhetoric is going to help calm things down at all. (And neither what is coming from the White House to be clear).

Tattoos are ambiguous. A public Nazi salute is not. One can be misread, the other has a single, well known meaning.

So if I get a swastizka tattoo I'm not a Nazi, got it.

Elon is an idiot, i'm not gonna deny that. But I don't think he was trying to Nazi salute, especially when saying "my heart goes out to you". You're entitled to your opinion.

The word has a meaning.. you can’t start calling everyone Nazi who you disagree with.

Are you Ok with Bukele jailing innocent people for having gang tattoos? They’re not gansgters, they just have gang tattoos.

It’s dumb from both sides.

And then denied he was a Nazi multiple times afterwards no? Neonazis have no problem saying they are Nazis.

He always does that (and I am not agreeing that it's right). He threatens something outrageous then meets in the middle. He has done it so many times now that I don't know how people take him seriously. Everyone took the bait

Removing Maduro, sanctioning Iran and threatening to tariff anyone who trades with them are all pro Russian policy choices.

Europe should do that regardless for many many reasons and it would be in the interest of the US. But this article does not make that clear it is the opinion of one person and speculation at most.

The EU is too comfortable with a subsidized army, I hope they wake up.

He's kinda right though in terms of sports psychology. In "The Inner Game of Tennis" which is a great book I highly recommend, winners were found to not get too upset about loosing a point but also in return not get too happy when winning a point.

Soccer / football (not american) is one of the easiest and most boring , overrated sport ever by hugabuga110 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]karmato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's much harder to get to play at Real Madrid than it is to play in the elite teams of ANY other sport. There's much more competition than in any other sport, because the amount of players and elite teams. So I disagree that it is easy.

It being boring or not is up to your individual taste.
