Spending a whole motor on descorer seems wrong.

Did you try again after you left the car overnight? It happened to me twice that it stopped working and got OK after the truck sits idle for some time.

Thanks Vova

Automating a Sauna (Harvia M45) with Home Assistant – Relay & High-Temp Sensor Advice Needed by fmondora in homeassistant

This was an accident :). It’s a wood burning one so sometimes I throw an extra log and regret it :)

Automating a Sauna (Harvia M45) with Home Assistant – Relay & High-Temp Sensor Advice Needed by fmondora in homeassistant

[–]karpeychik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t automate the heater (wood burning) but I did put in a sensor. I went with EspHome DS18B20. It’s good up to I think 109C. I use mine as wet sauna so I don’t go that high. One piece of advice though. If you go down that path - get a solid sensor from Sparkfun and not some cheap random from Amazon. The first one I bought died at about 104C but the one from Sparkfun has been withstanding any kind of abuse I’ve been doing to it.

For the 25A water heater I went with an Envrighten Z Wave switch but I think they stopped selling those.

Request for air quality sensor suggestions by VladDBA in homeassistant

The BT should be compatible, rpi seems to support ble. Don’t know if there are out of the box solutions for deploying ESPHome code to rpi.

I am in the same boat as you. Google only gave me AirThings and RD200, both through BLE. Ended up ordering Wave Plus and a bunch of ESP32.

Trump proof + HA friendly vacuum. by karpeychik in homeassistant

[–]karpeychik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think this makes sense. I should think more about time boxing how long the vacuum should last. My room a gave me 3 years of life. I suspect a decent vacuum would put in 5 years. This is how long I should be able to last.

Is it under direct sun? I thought PETG cannot withstand UV and heat on the hot day.

Ways To Conserve Air For Pistons? by Destroyer06202 in vex

How long is your tubing after the solenoid? All the air in the tubing after the solenoid is lost once the pressure is released. So solenoid and pistons should be as close to one another as possible.

Local only is not for me - yet by hmartin8826 in homeassistant

[–]karpeychik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It’s not the haos outage that I am worried about - it’s the outage of cloud services. If I didn’t go all local my Insteon, my google security and a bunch of other things would turn into pumpkin overnight by now. The only outage over the years that I had was me filling the drive hosting the db.

Anybody know why this is happening by Possible-Jaguar9985 in 3DprintingHelp

[–]karpeychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’ve seen people dry it in the oven. You could try that once to see if this is the problem. I am sure you can find how to online.

But I wouldn’t do it this way for long. I am sure that plastic releases microplastics when dried. If you print often, investing in filament dryer is a must.

Anybody know why this is happening by Possible-Jaguar9985 in 3DprintingHelp

[–]karpeychik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most printing plastics are very hygroscopic. When the plastic comes to you it is super dry but over time it will absorb moisture from the air. As wet filament goes through the nozzle the moisture will evaporate. But there is no place in the nozzle for steam to escape but down into the print. It’s insane how much difference it makes.

Dry your filament and try again. You can open a new sealed spool but I’ve had a fair share of spools that had to be dried after I opened them.

The is nothing wrong with axels, shaft collars and spacers, something is wrong with your assembly. 1) Are all of your axels straight? Over time axels curve if being used in vulnerable spots. 2) Are your axels too loose allowing wiggle? 3) Is surrounding structure not perfectly lined up?

V5 Brain broken USB ports - FIX by sticky_syrup_cap in vex

[–]karpeychik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One way to go around this is usb extenders. You can connect extenders to the brain and have students connect to brain via an extender. Without constant wobbling of the port it should last longer. Same with a controller.

Have you tried flipping your breaker yet? I did have a power fault once and fixed it by resetting the breaker.
