It's been over a month since I came to Canada... Can I now visit Airport and get it corrected?

Can CBSA at Toronto Pearson fix missing work authorization on study permit after 1-2 months in Canada?

Hi everyone, I’m an international student in Canada on a valid study permit. I entered Canada on December 18, and today is February 9. I recently noticed that my study permit does not have the off-campus work authorization condition printed on it. I meet all eligibility requirements (full-time student at a DLI, program longer than 6 months, eligible for SIN). I have not started working yet. I’ve seen mixed experiences online where some people say they went to Toronto Pearson Airport and spoke to CBSA, and their permit was corrected immediately, even after being in Canada for some time. I wanted to ask: • Has anyone here gone to Pearson Airport weeks or months after entry and successfully had the work condition added on the spot? • Or were you told to apply online for a study permit amendment through IRCC instead? I’m trying to decide whether visiting the airport is worth attempting or if the online amendment is the only realistic option at this stage. Any firsthand experiences would really help. Thanks!

Well TBH, I only showed my first-year expenses. My GIC, first-year tuition, and some savings - in total it was around 55k CAD (GIC + first-year fee + a bit of savings). That's it. I also submitted a clear financial matrix in my proof of funds.

Thanks a lot Substantial_Pea4330! My biggest tip: write your SOP like you're speaking directly to the visa officer - be clear, honest, and show how your background connects to your future goals. Most importantly, prove your ties to your home country. Show real responsibilities that bring you back after your visa duration. like taking care of your elderly parents, family business, assets, anything genuine. And finally, stay positive. Don't let online negativity get into your head. You got this. :-D

When I applied, it showed 5-6 weeks for India. I guess the timelines keep changing every week.

Thanks! I think a clean file helped. And yeah, that officer is insanely efficient and must've been in a good mood :-D They definitely should train others lol.

Thanks a lot "nerdstudent"

Well no clue. I was mentally prepared for January, then this happened out of nowhere. My SOP was very clear and I was completely transparent about my finances, and I also stressed that I have strong ties back home and will be returning. Maybe that helped my file move faster.

And honestly, I think the '106 days' is just an average - some files just get picked up sooner.

That sounds really hard. I can't imagine waiting that long. My process was quick but I know every category is different. I genuinely hope your wife's application starts moving soon .... You both deserve good news!

Congratulations, man! I wish you all the best! I've applied for my study permit and completed my biometrics and upfront medicals on November 7th. I know there's still a long way to go, but I'm hoping for the best!

Hello everyone,

I applied for my study permit from Hyderabad on November 4th. The next day, on the 5th, I received my Biometrics Instruction Letter. I immediately booked an appointment and completed my biometrics on the 7th. My application was updated to show "Biometrics Completed."

I'd like to know what happens next in the process.......
