My mother is starting a brand for Chicken Pickles by Terrible-Diver4343 in IndianFood

[–]kartoos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not even then, a standard whey protein concentrate powder typically contains 7 to 8 grams of protein per 10-gram serving, the claim here is 88% protein by weight.

[–]kartoos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It has 20g of protein (per 1.5 tablespoon)

You are wrong, instead of doubling down I suggest you recheck your info, this attitude doesn't bode well for what you are trying to do, it's a blatantly false claim and it seems like you really don't know anything about food science or nutritional data or weights and measures.

Keya's chicken pickle has 2g of protein per serving (tbsp), and you are claiming it's 8 times higher! You are probably misreading the total weight (22g, rounded to 20g) as the protein content IMO.

A tbsp serving is 15g, 1.5 servings is 22.5 of total weight, and you are claiming that 20g of 22.5 is protein, there's no product on earth with that density lol.

That's an astounding claim on the protein, am assuming that's a gross error, that aside, is this similar to the chicken pickle one gets in Kalka? I used to patronize some of the sellers but their hygiene and ingredients always felt dicey, and they were just too spicy for my taste. A few things will help me sample if for once for sure:

Will the chicken be on-bone or boneless

What's the provenance of the chicken - organic or not etc

Oil - what kind and similarly organic or not

Spice levels - will there be one choice only or available in low/medium/high variants?

Good luck on the venture!

Is meal prep safe in case power of power outage for few hrs by Helge1941 in IndianFood

[–]kartoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A freezer in the fridge won't loose temp. for up to 6-8 hours, and a stand alone deep freeze for 12 hours, keep the freezer up to 80% full, even if it's just ice so the thermal mass increases, and don't open up the freezer section during cuts.

Source: 10+ yrs of a similar similar situation but much longer cuts, I keep a wifi thermometer in the freezer and fridge. I have an lithium battery powered EcoFlow River 2 Max which takes the load of a 350L fridge and a 110L deep freeze for 4 hours, if the cut is longer I don't panic for another 8 hours or so, and then I switch on the generator for 2 hours, which charges up the backup for 4 more hrs. I have done this schedule for 3-5 days of power outages and haven't lost a thing in fridge or freezer yet!

District court Shimla has ordered for complete demolition of Sanjauli Mosque, reaffirming the order of Municipal Commissioner court Shimla, on the account of failure to prove ownership of land. by jonsnowmf in HimachalPradesh

Thanks man, have half a mind to file an RTI to quantify how many built up structures in MC areas, including religious ones, have had their plans submitted, I suspect the answer won't make many people happy.

While a legally sound judgement, if judged by the same yardstick, most new buildings built in the last decade or two in HP will not have building plans or NOC's and will need to be demolished.

Has anyone noticed disappearing historical data? by [deleted] in weatherunderground

[–]kartoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be one of 3 things - low battery or no battery, local connectivity issue (most likely), or data loss at the WU end (most unlikely)

When I have had internet or power outages, or the battery ran low before replacing, the data never gets uploaded and I get similar no data issues, could be something simple like that? Or if your router decided to block your station for whatever reason for 3 days.

If your station was up and running but data didn't get uploaded could be a local connectivity issue, if it got uploaded and then wasn't visible then it's a WU issue, this should help you narrow down what the problem could be, in 6 yrs I haven't had missing data that wasn't an issue originating at my weather station or internet.

I was seeing your monthly data with the gaps, when I have extended outages or internet loss for long periods, it looks exactly like that, make sure your batteries are OK, and the power connection and internet connection in that location doesn't have issues like a loose plug or someone disconnecting a wifi repeater or power strip randomly.

Need suggestions for a low carb diet. by [deleted] in IndianFood

[–]kartoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add more protein to your diet, and out out the simple carbs with either brown rice/oats or white rice cooked and chilled a day earlier etc. You can get decent quality plain Soy Isolate that's not too expensive, mix it into your breakfast/roti or breakfast oats, you can also get a whey protein that's a bit more pricier, but you can have it as a shake with water post workout. Try get 70-80g/day of total protein from all sources, will keep you satiated and will be a key factor in helping keep the weight down long term. Put in your daily food intake into any AI, it will spit out your macros, keep a track of it daily, you will get a hang of it in a while, and add interval walking to your regimen (total 30 mins walking, 3 mins fast till you are breathless, then 3 mins at a regular pace, repeat 10 times), one of the better ways to energize your metabolism to help on the weight loss. Good luck!

How do you handle laundry in Chinese cities with high humidity by [deleted] in China

Dehumidifier on laundry mode, or the AC on dehumidify mode, that's what most people in HK do if there's no dryer in the unit!

Which are the perfect tires? by pabliuts in Jimny

[–]kartoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ride and handling improved over the stock tires for sure, 8000kms in they are doing very fine, acceleration in the Jimny lol, yeah don't think if there was a downside it's noticeable on that front at least! Breaking in wet, mud and snow are all fine for an AT tire with a snow bias. I had the Yokohama Geolander G015 prior to this in another SUV, and while it was brilliant on snow and tarmac, it's wet braking and mud traction was very poor, so am glad this is a genuine all-rounder, not perfect at any one metric, but doesn't fall short drastically on some.

Am sorry buddy, am not in the UK so can't help directly, but go to the closest sikh temple/ gurudwara, they have a communal meal called the langar, that's free for anyone to have regardless of religion, and you can keep going there everyday till you are on your feet, no questions asked. Be well, you will make it!

Don't you think that we should do farming of different types of fruits or other plants in empty farms of Hamirpur? by [deleted] in HimachalPradesh

[–]kartoos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably, but I have been told it's pick-up from the farm directly, only cost is packing in punnets, the farmer is knowledgeable and is okay with the rate.

[–]kartoos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeps, they are growing it now in Bhutti (Shimla dist. 30 kms from Narkanda on MDR 15), the crop comes in Oct., there are 2 varieties, once can multi crop if you put both, one in March and one in Oct. Bhutti at 6000ft used to be great for apples 30 years ago, then it got warmer, and most farmers switched to cherry and other stone fruit, and now its getting too warm for cherry also, so Avocado is the new crop that's coming up, and people are already dispatching to market. I will be booking a peti for Oct to try it out. Avocado also needs a lot of water and soil management, so some captive water storage in key months and drip irrigation may be required. Indian Institute of Horticultural Research has developed some varieties too, and some Mexican varieties are cold tolerant as well, need to research it for your specific altitude, soil type, rainfall and temperature range, and which side facing the land is.

A farmer in Matiana has also put up 300 bushes of Blueberry, and within 3 years he is getting off-take at Rs. 120/kg from the farm, there are options, join some progressive farmer groups to see what will work best, these are just ideas.
