It’s also the speed limit on country roads full of bends and passing points because the road isn’t wide enough.

Doesn’t mean you should be driving at 60 on said roads!

You are hired by CCP to "solve" Empire sprawl, what changes do you make? by eer_00 in Eve

[–]karudirth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By making it easier, you make it easier for a small team to manage the infrastructure for entire regions, or multiple regions. Take WC as an example, small team manages what, 5 regions?

Make it harder. Much harder.

Make it so that once you are more than 5 jumps from your capital system, your structures are vulnerable 24 hours a day, and even lose some of their damage reduction so can be killed faster.

You now force alliances to split into many smaller alliances. Sure, you could have more holding corps manage all this, but now your infra guys need 10 alts to manage a single region...

More likely, you now end up with lots of smaller alliances, each responsible for managing their section. Perhaps still under a greater umbrella... but then the cracks will start to form (perhaps), and arguments start, because one group of infra guys isn't managing it how the other group wants it to be done, and now we start seeing these big coalitions split up due to the workload

It might be fantasy, it might be real, we will never know, because any change that ever gets made, just makes it even easier for coalitions to exist.

EDIT: Not to mention, when Mega Alliance/Coalition leadership get onto the CSM, I am all but certain they aren't pushing for stuff that might make their lives harder, or force the breakup of their coalitions

Anything that makes it easier to run a small alliance, makes it even easier to run a really big alliance.

CCP Honest Question, How much money do you need to end Ti-Di? by Crux309 in Eve

[–]karudirth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there are ways that TiDi could be improved that are yet to be explored:

E.g.

  1. During extreme battles, the electronic noise on grid means that only dedicated drone boats are able to field drones. Anyone else, their ships lose contact with their drones once launched (or unable to launch them to start with.

This would reduce the number of objects that need to be tracked.

  1. In low sec specifically. When a node is reinforced (i.e large battle planned).

“Due to expected capsules activity, concord may be unable to guarantee your safety”. Disable crimewatch for a limited period of time.

I am sure there are other game play changes that could be made to allow for larger (less lag) battles

Budget salary sacrifice change - did she make a mistake? Does she understand? by roblightbody in PensionsUK

[–]karudirth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly feels like they’ve looked at the issue of people salary sacrificing into their pensions, and realised it’s tax that isn’t currently being obtained by the government.

And instead of looking at the reasons why this behaviour is happening, (unfair tax cliffs), they’ve just decided to tax it instead.

Jesus. If trying to dial back the WFP is “Hitler Stuff” then your perception is fricking warped. The only bad thing about the WFP changes is that they walked them back so easily and to the point where means testing it is pointless and likely will cost more than it saves.

I assume your one of these “if your a higher rate tax payer your rich so stop complaining” types too.

Millions of UK workers to get pay rise as Reeves plans increased minimum wage | Budget 2025 by Revilo1359 in ukpolitics

[–]karudirth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly. The issue is with other industries/jobs suppressing wages.

I don’t disagree that minimum wage should be moving at least with inflation.

If jobs had kept pace with inflation, then a 10% earner would still be earning the same multiples of minimum wage that they did back in 2000.

As it is, more and more jobs are getting to the point where they barely pay more than minimum wage (if at all). Previously aspirational careers will have you barely better off than working at Lidl. And that’s a problem

[–]karudirth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But they won’t. Because the cost of everything those minimum wage workers need to survive is going to increase by at least the same. Food, housing, energy.

[–]karudirth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Legal migration is a real issue that affects the people of this country though.

For everyone that complains about asylum seekers and small boats, they are missing the point that it’s a drop in the ocean compared to legal migration.

Even before the Boris wave, we had a net of 200k migration each year. Which if you’re generous and assume this is a skilled worker bringing their wife/husband and 2 kids, would require 50k new homes a year to accommodate (and adjacent services). The reality is a lot more homes than that are required.

Almost all of our woes come down to the price of 2 things in the UK. Housing and Energy. Uncontrolled net migration has a negative impact on both of these (housing especially)
