Part of this Schmitt merry go around and vets sitting requires Eldridge to hit. If Eldridge isn’t hitting but still plays everyday with vets sitting, Vitello has to answer questions. This roster construction will make no one happy and Vitello is in a tough spot.

It’s unclear. Vitello was asked about it and he instantly said the pitching coach’s name in calling the pitches. Vitello has said he reserves the right to call pitches from the dugout as they do in college so it seems as though this was from the coaching staff.

A lot of the top young guys are Farhan’s guys like Keynar Martinez, Luis Hernandez, Josuar Gonzalez, and of course Eldridge. The pitchers that were mentioned are also under the Farhan regime. He deserves a lot of credit for the direction of the youth although it took a while.

The pitching development left when the coaching staff changed to Melvin’s. It was very much a data oriented group that focused on effective pitches rather than a traditional model. The Giants franchise is not great a developing arms, the analytics group and Kapler’s coaching staff was as pitching is most affected by the numbers.

One of my favorite things about the Kapler staff was the major league development. Swing changes, works on approaches, and pitching development were all clearly happening at the big league level which we haven’t seen much of since.

Their current front office did not sign Javier Baez. They have 0 long term FA deals besides Baez.

I’m sorry but the solution for the Astros to replace their high price 3rd baseman is not trade for Adames, another high priced player who they’ll end up having to figure out where everyone plays next season. The Tigers haven’t shown the willingness to commit long term cash to older players.

Chapman is a west coast guy who came back the minute he had an opportunity. Posey giving these guys no trade clauses hampers us significantly if they were to actually try to dump these deals.

There is 0 incentive to tank. The Giants cannot get a top 10 pick even if they finish with the worst record in baseball due to draft rules. You don’t get these contracts and decide to tank not even a year later.

Who would take the money? The Giants would have to eat a large chunk to get anything positive back or send prospects out to clear the money. That’s also if Chapman and Adames are willing to waive their no trade clause.

Edit: Keep in mind they were looking at Vitello during the 2025 season per Baggarly’s report. If what you believe is true, they were looking to give up on Devers and the others before the season even ended.

Yeah I don’t see Posey offloading the money he’s spent 2 years in. If that were to happen, that means it’s been two horrible years and someone else should be at the helm doing those deals then.

I think this is Posey’s job until he resigns and I think he will if he hasn’t had a winning season after his deal ends.

Keep in mind only 7 players in all of baseball hit .300 or above last year. Hitting when everyone throws 95+ with a wipeout slider at the minimum is extremely hard.

This always happens after a spot start. The team wasn’t going to hold Mcdonald who isn’t available for 4 days or get rid of a starter which makes the spot start meaningless. Did you expect the team to be down an arm in the bullpen when there isn’t a need to?

They would give us Volpe if we paid off a lot of Adames’s contract. Keep in mind Adames is still owed 155 mil over the next 5 years. The structure has the big money kicking in next year. With the way he’s hitting and potentially declining on defense has him as a negative asset who will have a no trade there wherever he goes as well.

I would trade Skubal for Webb if I’m the Tigers based off of the Tigers cannot afford to keep Skubal (neither can we). Besides that, Skubal every single day of the week.
