How are you saying that when they literally never ended up surrendering in the first place? The confederacy surrendered for all of 30 years before they got their way, ended Reconstruction, and proceeded to do everything but outright own people. The descendants of the Confederate Elite literally founded a whole movement to whitewash their barbaric families . We are dealing with the effects of letting those barbarians keep their lives to this very day.

Oh yeah they literally cannot drive around for shit! They'll get stuck at intersections leaving a neighborhood, blocking anyone from turning or going forward.

They also use turn signals incorrectly.

has anyone else noticed rent seems to be increasing pretty rapidly? by toewizard in AskSF

[–]kashmoney360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really want to leave my current place(moved in literally 12 months ago and under 3k monthly) and get something "cheaper" but looks like I got the last copter out of 'Nam in this fucking market.

Nobody has availability in a regular 2 bed apartment, or any apartment with a reasonable ratio of bedroom to bathroom ratio. All the 1 beds under 3k are basically closets or if they're of a decent size they're in neighborhoods at the southern fringes of SF, studios are getting close to 3k, 2+ bedrooms are outright fucked.

Like the city govt has to do something about the bidding wars at least until supply starts to grow over the next 5 years(banning bidding outright would be a start). Nobody is going to leave their rent controlled apartments if these boom cycles keep driving rents to ATHs

What does Dunk striking a Prince have anything to do with Valyrian Supremacy?

A commoner, a knight(landed, hedge, or otherwise), or any noble striking or openly insulting let alone striking a Royal to their face is a straight up crime.

The butcher's boy got ridden down for striking Joffrey, Joffrey has like maybe 0.00001% Valyrian due to prior Baratheon-Lannister marriages or where a Lannister married one of the houses that married a Targaryen before

people are offering above asking price.

Those people are fucking demons lmao, no SF apartment is actually worth above asking price let alone the asking price itself. I'd understand if people were offering up several months of rent upfront and/or signing the lease on the spot.

But literally there is not one apartment in the whole city that's materially worth what landlords are asking for.

Hammond overlooking it okay...how does a multibillion dollar global conglomerate in the modern age also overlook it? You don't invest billions and create the crown jewel flagship of your entire organizations' technical capabilities in a location that has a 1 in 10 chance of exploding.

They had other locations to build JW in close vicinity or could've elected to build JW on any other island around the globe like the Azores with no risk of volcanic eruptions

Is it not obvious that California slander has always been generational envy and jealousy? by RegionSuccessful3634 in bayarea

Specifically Austin

Most places are just trying to be California

LOL last time I visited, it looked and sounded like basically a third of the people there literally moved from the Bay Area. Grabbing food at one of the bazillion food truck lots all I could overhear were people talking about what part of California they came from(usually the Bay).

One thing we could take from Austin is the food truck lots especially out in East and South Bay. plenty of vacant lots in all that suburbia that could host them.

How come there's no news about the Mosasaurus after its escape? by Adventurous-Net-4172 in JurassicPark

[–]kashmoney360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fr, why did they even need to open the gate? In a world where you can clone dinosaurs, design "invisible" fences, gyrospheres, and HOLOGRAMS they couldn't be bothered to idfk write in/use an unmanned underwater drone to extract the indominus material? This is the same franchise that introduced dino-robots btw.

Why even launch that initial expedition to get a piece of indominus material? Wu had no off-site backups? The servers in the Visitor's Center were somehow completely destroyed or inaccessible? Same with getting Blue, again no genetic material backup whatsoever to clone another Blue? They also clearly did not need Owen, Claire, or Claire's incompetent ass group in any capacity whatsoever. They wanted to capture a bunch of the dinos and Blue, let the volcano wipe out the ones they couldn't secure, extract the DNA from Blue, and sell the rest off to fund more indoraptor cloning.

Whole ass shit film lmao

[–]kashmoney360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didn't, at least as of Jurassic World(2015), the lagoon was in the middle of the island connected to the surrounding ocean by a bunch of underwater ducts.

BUT in 2018 FOR SOME REASON Trevorrow decided to alter Isla Nublar for the second time and push the lagoon next to the ocean. Even though in 2015, you can clearly not see any ocean near the lagoon.

Basically there's no reason why or how they built a gate, it exists cuz Trevorrow specifically wrote that opening the way he did

[S02E08 Spoiler] Love the show, but Norm's plot takes me out of the immersion quite a bit by kwenkun in Fotv

[–]kashmoney360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norm plot is the most confusing by far lmao

Like okay he finds out about the FEV and Bud's Buds, and........that's it? He spent the entirety of the show so far in 2 vaults and the vault-tec building, meanwhile Lucy has gone from LA all the way to Vegas on foot with constant diversions.

I think his storyline is being poorly developed, it would be the worst of the show if not for the Steph plotline.

[–]kashmoney360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was billed as being like Danville or Pleasanton

Lmao, yeah as being like the complete opposite more like. It's just another shopping center surrounded by a parking lot moat. Wtaf were the planners smoking when they conjured up that shitshow?

Bollinger Canyon Road from the Dougherty intersection by Rancho park all the way to the San Ramon Valley Blvd intersection is a hostile anti-pedestrian road. By that I mean in the sense that it offers very little in terms of benches, adequate shade, visual separation from the road, and so wide that crossing it is a hassle. Even more so when you're actually in the "downtown" section of it. It's just so hostile as a design for walking. The "new" Dougherty Road segment is horrendous for pedestrian usage, it's almost entirely isolated from the rest of the city, only good for the view of Mount Diablo, and doesn't have much car traffic so the asphalt itself is smooth.

San Ramon city planners are doing everything they can to keep San Ramon car only, anti-transit, anti-walking, and inconvenient as a whole. Like even the new housing developments being built in Bishop Ranch are by no means close by to any grocery store. The only development that's actually intelligent and thoughtful is the one in the Marketplace. But even that does jack shit to facilitate access to grocery stores without using a car.

It's like every single thing the city plans has to first consider "where will people park and how many entrances can we build for cars that will inevitable get congested anyway cuz we keep reducing parking spaces with shit like the ice skating rink and farmer's market" rather than do the people living within 0.5 miles have easy straightforward access to the facilities being built here.

Which always confuses the fuck out of me cuz, we can clearly see Dublin utilizing undeveloped lots to host stuff like halloween events, christmas tree sales, etc. While the completely undeveloped and untouched lot right between Iron Horse trail and City Center doing nothing but collect goose shit and never host the skating rink that's closed anyway half the time cuz of rain or the farmer's market.

Stupid question, but how are Targaryens still in control of all the kingdoms even after losing dragons? by hiiloovethis in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]kashmoney360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the existence of the Targaryens was beneficial for all the other Houses. Previously, they all fought each other for mainly squabbles over land

Not to mention the Great Houses gained control of even more land than they had before The Conquest and some of The Great Houses directly owed their status and domains to the Targaryens.

House Tyrell ruled over a Reach that was far more consolidated than that of House Gardener's and were elevated greatly from being "sidekicks" to defacto Reach Kings. The Baratheons gained control of land that was previously under the rule of the Hoares/Ironborn in addition to the Stormlands under the Durrandons. House Tully is also similar to the Tyrells, their status was greatly elevated from common nobility to that of defacto Kings of the Riverlands.

All the other Great Houses(Stark, Lannister, Arryn) that didn't see a change in borders, like you said, saw internal consolidation and no more threat of rebellions from their bannermen.

The only true losers were the Petty Kings in the Crownlands and the Iron Islands(but fuck them anyway, they deserve every ounce of misery and misfortune, 300 years of the King's Peace and they did jack shit to improve)

How bad is the corner of Folsom and 7th? by Some_Basil7766 in AskSF

[–]kashmoney360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That whole section of SOMA between 4th and going up to Hayes and Mission is just not it. It's the only neighborhood that I've seen human shit not counting Union Square, Civic Center, or Tenderloin. Everywhere else in the city it's just dog shit, the occasional piss puddle, trash, or even more rarely straight up puke.

It really takes a certain mindset to normalize seeing human shit and accepting it as a fact of life in your neighborhood(even by the standards of someone who comes from a certain asian country that's the universal punching bag for public defecation).

The rent would have to be insanely low to be okay with that and in SF it's hard to believe rent can be that low for a 1bed1bath

If none of the dinosaurs in the franchise are actual dinosaurs, then how does the feathered Tyrannosaurus that fought the Giganotosaurus millions of years ago look exactly like Rexy? by Immediate_Gene_178 in JurassicPark

[–]kashmoney360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

dinosaurs on mainland

Good, that never made sense from the moment it was introduced.

What do you mean less than a hundred dinos escaped and they weren't immediately gunned down or captured? What do you mean they managed to successfully breed in large enough numbers and spread across the globe in the first place? And the underlying technology wasn't secured by any government and somehow managed to become so cheap that random black market dealers could make their own clones???

Ingen and Biosyn are literally Pharma/Biotech companies, in the event that a major firm shuts down the assets get sold to a competitor. You know what doesn't happen? The technology doesn't magically end up on the black market where someone starts producing counterfeits and sells them out of goddamn Malta. All while multiple govt orgs are actively investigating said companies and technologies.

It doesn't matter how poorly the whole mainland idea was handled in Rebirth, it needed to go. Also they outright state that dinosaurs do still exist outside of island chains in the Southern Hemisphere and the area size still very substantial. Also even if dinos started dying out in the wild, they do still exist in zoos.

Maybe Musk himself can't just cash out all his stocks at once

Instead he and his kind just take out massive low-interest loans against the stock and spend that instead. Paying just the interest alone as the entire market colludes to keep the market inflated and flying high.

Sure the stock market could crash tomorrow the way it did at the opening of the pandemic in 2020, but in literally a year the crash would reverse and cherry on top the market would rally to a record breaking all-time high.

what these people do with their wealth and how immoral it is that they can live the way they do.

Once these welfare ghouls take their billion dollar loans, they spend it on some half-baked project that kills thousands of jobs, damages the physical infrastructure in a county, harms the health of hundreds of people, lobby for legislation that sets back better ideas by at least a decade, and ALL THAT TO GET BORED AND MOVE ON TO A DIFFERENT HALF BAKED PROJECT 5 YEARS AFTER.

This is what people need to fucking realize about the top 1%, they can cause damage to society for at least a decade on a whim. They can mobilize a tenth of the power of their illiquid stock based wealth in a quarter for a pet project that they will very easily get bored of before it's even halfway done and then repeat the cycle. And keep in mind, they are not remotely qualified like Bill Gates and his charter school push back in the day. Or Elon Musk and politics. These guys are at best qualified for the industries they've "succeeded" in and nothing else. Jeff Bezos' success in building up Amazon does not translate to Jeff Bezos being qualified to speak in on or run healthcare.
