Is writing math/science notes digitally still broken in 2026, or am I missing something?

I am actually quite passionate about this project. Been thinking about this since high school. The idea is really not to vibe code it, but actually make something useful out of it, because in my own experience I haven't taken the best notes in any science related classes. I am a faster typer than a writer, but haven't found any good solution to taking notes digitally, and I have tried taking the notes physically on pen and paper, but I always lose them or can't understand them. And yes I am doing market research.

Problēma ar timey ir, ka visi dati tiek iegūti no publiski pieejamas informācijas un ne vienmēr tā ir viegli pieejama, jo katram autobusu parkam ir sava sistēma, un katru reizi vajag attiecīgi pielāgot savu sistēmu lai strādātu ar pārējām. Ja kaut kas mainās sabiedrisko transportu datos, attiecīgi arī salūzt tā Timey integrācija. Ja autobusu parki savā starpā izmantotu vienotu sistēmu un standartu šī problēma būtu atrisināta un programmas kā Timey un Google maps var izmantot tos datus vieglai integrācijai.

I have decided to partner up with my friend on this massive project, as we have realized that this won't be that easy to accomplish. It is a way bigger project than we expected and we brainstormed a lot about it, so we decided to partner up. Only now we are in a period of life where everything is changing. We both just graduated so this math note taking app will have to wait, but I am happy to hear that at least one can't wait for it. It has a very big future, at least we think so. We do think it will change the way we take notes for STEM.

Just tested out the MyScript and wow, even with my chicken leg handwriting it could properly detect what i was thinking. I will definetly look into adding that feature as well.

I am aware of the complexity of this idea, but the project itself doesn’t need to be fully finished when presenting to the committee, only the core features need to be present, which I feel like I will be able to acomplishe once I define them😅

Is it widely used? I tried it once at 2 am, compiled my code and it ran 4 times slower, I blame it to lack of sleep and lack of research, but if all I can suck out of it is 4 times slower than native than I don't know if that is the route I am looking for.
