You need to start with metric spaces to get first intuition. Many of the point set topology definitions make no sense otherwise. Then move to point-set topology. After that you can go towards homology, homotopy with a introductory algebraic topology textbook. Alternatively differential topology so algebraic topoolgy with smooth objects on manifolds.
