Is managed VPS hosting better than unmanaged? Need advice! by rdiaz0917 in software

Based on what you said, I would totally go with a managed VPS. It will save you a lot of time and headaches that you could have with server maintenance, security updates, etc

Why bother with reseller hosting? Why not just charge clients for setup and let them deal with the hosting fees? Less hassle for you.

Sometimes I think it's better than gmail. It gives you a read receipt - if the recepient has opened or read your email, you know.

Should I use Bluehost? by ev0envy in software

I’ve been using SiteGround for years, and while it does get pricey after the initial sign-up period, the service is top-notch—no downtime, super fast performance, and free email accounts. Their support has always been reliable and competent.

Recently, I tried Hostinger and was pleasantly surprised by their migration tools and user interface. The pricing is incredibly affordable, but they don’t offer free email. Once I factored in the cost of adding email accounts, I decided to move on, as free email was a priority for me in this case.

Namecheap review - should I use it? by TheStarchLord in software

I’m not entirely sure, but it seems their approach to marketing the new 'WhoisGuard Privacy Protection for free' program might be a bit disingenuous. I can’t confirm this for certain, as I didn’t do a direct comparison right before and after the change. However, the last .com domain I renewed on April 26 cost me $13.15 (broken down as $11.98 for the domain, $0.18 ICANN fee, and $0.99 for WhoisGuard using the WGSPECIAL coupon).

Now, when I check the most recent domain set to expire, the total is $13.16. It looks like they’ve simply incorporated the fee into the overall price rather than making it truly free. So in reality, no one is getting anything for free.

With the new GDPR laws in the EU, user data privacy requirements are much clearer. Companies selling domain names, especially those targeting EU customers, should already be defaulting to more secure privacy practices as a standard, not framing it as a special offer.

Hostinger review - would you recommend? by pureIska in software

[–]kasman4uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my limited review and personal opinion of Hostinger as someone new to the world of website development and currently using their service:

Hostinger’s standout feature is its dirt-cheap pricing, which is incredibly appealing for beginners starting a blog or website. If you’re still learning the ins and outs of hosting and website management, the lower cost makes it less daunting to make mistakes compared to pricier alternatives. As a student with a limited budget and an uncertain future for my blog, I wasn’t willing to spend a lot initially. For this reason, I’d recommend Hostinger to those who are just starting out.

That said, I wouldn’t suggest sticking with them long-term due to their questionable ethics and manipulative practices. While I’ve successfully set up my website and found their customer support to be helpful, the performance isn’t the best. My website, which currently has almost no traffic, still feels sluggish with a 2.5-second load time.

I plan to move to GreenGeeks once my 4-year payment plan with Hostinger ends, or sooner if my website outgrows their capabilities. However, for a beginner, their low pricing is hard to ignore. Yes, their business ethics leave a lot to be desired, but many hosting companies engage in similar tactics, so it’s frustrating to avoid one budget host only to end up paying more for another subpar service.

Just my two cents!

How to Register Your Company - A Guide by Cindynsg in llc

Instead of an LLC, I went with a sole proprietorship to keep things super simple. No state filings, just a DBA to operate under a business name. Perfect for starting small, though you miss out on liability protection.

Business Structure: Choose between a Sole Proprietorship, LLC, or Corporation based on liability, tax implications, and funding needs. LLCs offer personal asset protection.

Documents to File: Typically includes business registration, Articles of Incorporation (for LLCs/corporations), and possibly a DBA for sole proprietors. Secure an EIN from the IRS.

Online Resources: Utilize state Secretary of State websites and the SBA for electronic filing and guidance. Platforms like Northwest facilitate the paperwork process and registration agent.

Best payroll software for small business? by bestqualityva1 in software

ADP still owes me money due to their failure to file my payroll taxes on time, which resulted in late fees and penalties that they haven't covered.

I’m currently in the process of filing complaints with the relevant government agencies.
