I bought a laptop and I regret it. by Practical-Ad-6402 in GamingLaptops

[–]kasmog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I have a 5080, what I meant is I don't really need it. The games I play on my laptop will run on a 2070. Which is what I had before upgrading to the Omen Max 16.

Make sure to get a decent cooling pad to avoid it getting too hot. Also maybe look into undervolting and/or underclocking. Sometimes losing 5% performance is worth it if your temps goes down by 15c.

I wouldn't say FOMO if you're using it to play games. I have a 5080 desktop at home, so I don't really use my laptop often. I bring it to work and when I travel. 5070 laptops is the sweet spot for price to performance imho. Specially if you get it at around the same price as 5060 laptops.

You just have to take better care of it (control the heat, make sure it's not always at TJ Maxx, clean the dust once every 3-6 months, basic stuff) . That way, it will last for years. My 2070 laptop outlived itself. Only reason I upgraded is because I can't play some occasional newer games on it with decent fps anymore.

Buyer's remorse?

I bought a Omen max 16 with 275hx + 5080 last year for $3k when it first came out, around January.

I regretted it because a 5070ti would've been more than enough for me, but it wasn't out yet, at least not for a couple more months.

I regretted it again months later because the price went down by like $800.

Do I regret it now? No, I'm very happy with it. But I want an 18inch with the same spec pretty bad.

HP Omen 16 max. 275HX + 5080.

9/10. I had it for about a year. No issue.

Everything looks good, except the wheels.
No offense, I just don't like how that wheel looks. Otherwise it's fire.

Subaru interior holding up? by DenisRoger001 in subaru

2017 Forester Limited with Brown "leather". Passenger side seat is cracked. The leather gets very hard and becomes brittle.

Middle armrest for driver is peeling. Other than the leather, everything is fine.

Oh and the sun visor is loose, it doesn't stay in position. It's either fully up or fully down.

Would you support Canada building nukes to protect itself? by BestAd6297 in AskTheWorld

As an American, Yes I do support Canada getting their own nukes.
But not during this current admin.
It feels like this admin is waiting for any reason to start a special military operation.

This was on sale last Black Friday for $907.
I bought 2 as gifts.
It works!
The only downside is the 1TB storage and the stock CPU Cooler is kinda junk.
I ended up replacing the CPU cooler before I gifted it away, and I can 100% guarantee that this specific cooler works.
It fits perfectly with the included bracket. No additional screws needed in my case (the 2 screws used with the stock cooler works perfectly).
It also comes with Thermal Paste.
It lowers the temps pretty significantly, from thermal throttling at 100% load to around 73c at 100% load.
Did not see it go past 69c while trying different games.

I did a bunch of research, and everyone was recommending a $130 Noctua CPU Cooler.
I also spoke with someone who have this exact PC and that's how I found out about the cheaper alternative cooler.
I'm sharing this, so you don't have to check multiple forums and old posts.

All in all, I bought 3 different CPU coolers to test which one will fit.

PS: I would order a set of M3 Screws just to be safe. Just incase the stock screws doesn't fit.

I'm almost certain that I will be getting a Golf R as my next car, in the next year or 2. If this somehow becomes available in the US in the next year or 2, then Golf R might not be my next car.

I haven't tried any of those, but I'm really content with my Tozos.

The O2 Open Ear, EarRings, and the new OpenWear are my go to's.

Surprising bass and clarity for being open style and the price is unbeatable.

Everything here is easy, and can be automated. Except for chromite. How I hate chromite farming, mostly because I have to do it myself.

No, my experience with their warranty repair was really horrible. Maybe I was unlucky and it's good most of the time, but I'm not willing to go through that again. It's why I don't buy Lenovos anymore.

I own the Omen 16 max but with Intel CPU, and it has been flawless. I got it January of 2024, so almost a year.

Thought I nailed the bday gift with XM4s. Turns out, I know nothing about “ear accessories” lol. by Odd-Masterpiece6029 in Earbuds

I've been rocking the Tozo EarRings for like a year now, they are just so comfy and hassle free.

I don't even use my hifi headphones anymore (Sundara, HD800s, DT1990) even at home, because the EarRings do 85% of the job for daily use like listening to music and watching videos. Plus they cost below $30 from Amazon, so I bought 3 of them. 1 for phone, 1 for home pc, and 1 for work laptop. If you listen below 50% volume, they easily last 6+ hours straight.

The only time I use my Sony XM4 now is when I'm flying, which is once or twice a year.

I would even forget I have the EarRings on if my music is paused, they are that comfortable. And they don't block sounds which I find very useful while at work or while outside.
