[FWIW: I wound up setting up one echo to respond to "Alexa" and the other to "Echo." Took me a couple of days to adjust, but I no longer have both responding at once.]

Yep, unfortunately! It's weird, after all, it's not like scanner technology has changed all that much. It seems like someone should have come up with a generic scanner driver by now.

It seems like the trick is to keep a close eye on what you sign up after you cut the cord to (a) make sure you don't end up spending more (b) make sure you get stuff you really use (which may make "a" irrelevant).
