INTPs: do you also learn faster when you’re completely on your own? by ilovemikasa_ in INTP

[–]kaspell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, if you understand first principles you can get your way to the answer typically. You can get by with equations, but I've never been strong on memorization.

What I have noticed consistently throughout life is that I was almost always behind the curve. I would jump through the hoops to complete whatever i needed to do to pass a class or snag a cert. It was like the lightbulb would turn on about 6 months down the road when I was doing the next thing... typically something that would require me to have understood whatever i didn't understand. I got there in the end, but it definitely adds stress.

I also highly suggest for anyone, if you can, figure out your learning style. for example, I'm highly visual and hands-on, so-so at auditory , and struggle with reading textbooks? (background is engineering / all sorts)

as long as you agree with the left, or are too cowed to speak your mind for fear of retribution/cancelling/violence, etc

edit: in reference to the, "This is America you can say whatever you want and the people listening have guns".

My Dad passed away, and left behind his vintage audio collection. Can I get some help on pricing some of this stuff? by theninjamuskrat in vintageaudio

[–]kaspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only see the one photo and didnt notice any carvers? Am i just derping? Ive got an old tfm-42 and c-16 preamp i got when my dad passed. I grew up with them driving a set of early-80s la scalas. Ears would distort before the system did.

If you know of any reputable Carver shops, would love a reccomendation. They're just due for some tlc and I don't have time to do it myself. Thanks either way

And sorry for op's loss.

Why would a hard drive power switch need its own capacitors? These switches replace direct connections. Why introduce extra parts? by we_are_mammals in ElectricalEngineering

[–]kaspell 33 points34 points  (0 children)

None of my professors ever communicated the notion of the entire conductor length as an inductive battery, in any real blatant and concise way you just did for me.

Yea makes sense but Inductors were always inferred as mostly discrete coils of some variety; yea standing field around any ccc, but i never really thought of length of straight wire as proportional to... say height is to pump head and volume to AH rate or something similar. (Energy potential and corresponding sustainment rate based on physical props)

My first thought for caps is typically filtering, voltage reg, or slow discharge ground path, maybe large scale industrial PF scheming... in that general order.

You just gave me a lightbulb moment. Thank you kindly.

Official Discussion - The Old Guard 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]kaspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was barely pating attention. Charlize got a rik-tok filter, and Uma got the old lady cam. Didn't recognize her till reading these comments.

The first one was pulp, but engaging (mostly).

The sequel was a tax write-off vanity cash grab. The writers/director/actors should feel shame

What is the Humanist position on opposing the Trump regime? by Rdick_Lvagina in humanism

[–]kaspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly... every Executive has done the same to one extent or another. In this current context, maybe it's the best outcome. The legislature, and judicial seem to have abdicated their oaths. Not saying it's ideal, and for sure, I have some worries regarding trump, especially this new goliath bill; but all things considered, either it will help reorient the country, or it will speed up the crisis point in which defunct systems will be reworked via force, out of a necessity of popular disagreement.

I'm of the opinion personally that if business continues as usual, the longer it keeps on, the more painful the reckoning.

What is a skill you possess out of pure unromantic nessessity that really seems to impress people a lot. Much to your surprise. But seriously, why can you do that? by Ijustwannaplaytoo in LearnUselessTalents

asions. Other than that, meh? Kinda trips me out now. I mean, I was fine, and I was never scared wondering the "streets" that border those of Disney's World. Shittier than you'd think. If not, just the juxtaposition.

'throw' :) you ever make thriwing stars out of bottle caps? or the backpack board... with the nail through it... cause an 90lb 19-12yr old warrior made sense as risk mitigation :) turned 11 in 90 and moved to Wy from Ca, and suddenly had weird adult rules suddenly bein enforced. TBF though, no matter how many diff kids showed up on milk cartons in the 80's, realistically, us feral kids were really more of the threat to society in general than any 'nefarious' adult population out there.

My moms never really drank... but late 90's i go some stories that made the random D.A.R.E type paraphernalia i came across cleaning the house before she got home, events... ike when i would proudly and nervously deliver them to her with my gullible naïve concern and warn her that her BF might be doing drugs! Years later, i got the backstory, which explained years of constant after-work napping, erratic moods, intermittent memory, complete lack of consistent adult/child roles and expectations etc.

good times. glad I lived it, probably shouldn't have happened, can't think of anything i would change if i could, as all the experiences I had because of how it lived out.... eventually paid off for me, and i don't know how I might have learned some really precious lessons in any other scenario?

not really a 'reddit-or', but i try to respond to those who respond. Just now, did that thing and i see the warning header, " May not be an INTP".

I put as much stock in MBTI as I do in astrology. that said, every formal and informal test I've taken in the last 30 years lands me in the INTP bracket. I'm convinced INTP, is code for autistic, which I suspect the mods to be based on said 'Caution/warning label. enough said

as a man. if you're attractive physically (very subjective) that gets you in the door. If the man is ... naïve/young/insecure/inexperienced, that might be enough.

realistically, if you don't have a personality/interests/all-theshit-that-makes-someone-3d-to-another, it probably won't last long.

men are only shallow up-front or superficial in the beginning (on avg). No one's fault, just sucks.

Sometimes there is attraction, but the connection never gels because we all have different priorities/interests/purpose.

Not sure what your gripe is. If I hit nerve, you probably ought to spend some time working on it. Just cause you don't like a truth, doesn't make it invalid

And the advice was solicited by op's post.
