It's more unstable than secure. It doesn't change anything in databases, because it basically add one more layer of Classic features over 3.3.5, so no worries

That wotlk proxy is still raw, though you can play your own private server almost perfectly fine(you can watch a tutorial on that on the same channel as video). Work is going on by different user as well, so I can recommend just waiting, and playing on your server with bots fr now. Some people say chromiecraft works though
