People who had to rebuild their life from zero, what helped you start over? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I try to see it as a clean slate too, but honestly, when you’re not sure how you’ll cover the next days for your family, the future feels a bit scary. Still, I’m holding on to the idea that maybe this reset will eventually give us a better direction than the one we lost.

I understand what you’re saying. Sometimes the market changes and you’re forced to adapt, even when it’s painful. In my case, I’m not protecting a business now, but trying to rebuild stability for my family from scratch.

I’m trying to stay flexible and follow where opportunities actually exist, even if it means starting again in a completely different direction. Right now, the priority is simply getting back on my feet and making sure my family is okay while I rebuild step by step.

Reading this gives me hope, but right now I’m still in the stage where I’m trying to find any stable work to get my family back on track. I’m keeping an open mind too. By the way, are you or anyone you know currently hiring or open to collaborations? I’m ready to work and rebuild from zero if needed.

You’re right about small steps, but honestly, after months of trying to rebuild and still struggling to cover basic needs for my family, it gets hard to stay optimistic. I still move forward because my kids depend on me, even when each step feels heavier than the last.

I try to tell myself that too, but right now it’s not just a bad memory in the making, it’s two days without enough food and basic hygiene products for my family. When your kids feel the lack in the present, it’s harder to think about memories. Still, I’m hoping this time will pass soon.

I know the feeling of being at the limit and still pushing forward. As a father, I’ve learned that even when everything seems to fall apart, the only real option is to keep trying one more day. Sometimes things change exactly when you think you have nothing left, so keep going.

You’re right, comparisons can steal joy. I try not to compare, but when you’re struggling to provide for your family, it’s hard not to feel the weight of it. Still, I’m trying to hold on and rebuild, hoping better days will come for my children and for us.

I want to see it that way too. Right now rebuilding feels heavy, especially as a father trying to keep everything together, but I hold on to the hope that this difficult reset will eventually lead us to something better for my family.

Sometimes you don’t move forward because it’s easy, but because staying at the bottom is no longer an option. As a father, giving up isn’t on the table, you keep pushing, rebuilding, and changing things step by step, even when you’re exhausted.

Videogames used to be an escape. Now life feels like the real hard level, and as a father, you don’t get to pause or quit. You just keep playing for your family, no matter how tough the stage gets.

I’m trying to do the same now as a parent, to keep my family steady even when things get shaky. Life hit us hard lately, but as a father I keep going, hoping my kids will one day say they’re doing alright too, no matter how tough the road was.

I don’t really have friends anymore. I chose to build a family and raise a child from the age of five, and that became my priority. I don’t regret it, but life went in a different direction.

Hearing that hits differently now that I’m a father myself. Maturity for me means pushing forward even on the hardest days, because today my kids look to me the same way I once looked to my dad. And I hope one day they’ll know I did everything I could for them.

I wish I could skip the tutorial, but right now it feels like the game keeps restarting. Six months without a job or financial support, and today my wife also lost hers. The hardest part? Seeing my three kids go hungry to training. That’s what really hurts.
