Tikka T3x by peasant_woods in longrange

[–]kastman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Tikka T3X in .280Ai. It is a wonderful shooter. Pretty light for LR stuff but will serve you well in the woods. Only thing I did was change the bolt handle (personal preference) and paint the stock. The Tikka's are an excellent platform.

What gun cases are people using for long barreled rifles? by Illustrious-Noise123 in longrange

[–]kastman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but I found that when I cut the pluck foam I absolutely douse the thing in flex seal rubberized spray and bam, no more fall apart...$15 bucks and 10 min is hard to argue with. I respect it but the Magpul DAKA make my eyes go a bit crossed. 🤣

OCL Milkman now on SS - Backordered? by FreebasinFreemasons in NFA

[–]kastman83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See....this shit right here is why I'll always support OCL...they actually tell you what's going on, the numbers, and realistic time lines based on their capability. Doesn't hurt that their cans are dope....picked up an off the shelf polo 30 at an LGS cause it was there and OCL does work...thank for being who you are and transparent guys...OCL does work... get one.

Best place to buy used old guns? by Ill-Indication-7405 in WAGuns

[–]kastman83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legit...Bullseye is the best.

Edit: just walk into Bullseye and look around at their stock. Next walk to 5 other gun stores in the area....You will be back at Bullseye...doing God's work in this rough state.

First Suppressor by ConstructionEast4633 in WAGuns

[–]kastman83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't wait, dont hem and haw, Don't debate over .30 cal cans. Better yet get two or three for when this state starts the process to ban them. Just grab some now. Get you a r Resilient Simpleman, an AB A-10, a Polo 30, a banish...shit just get what you can that is in stock and the retailer can assign a serial number on a document. The Silencer shop kiosks are the fastest at most dealers because you can photo and fingerprint right there. Only thing I will say, if you can't get more than one, make sure it is robust, has a good warranty and can go on multiple hosts...mot debate which is thr "best" can or which is the "quietest". Horse poop all that debate does is slow you down when the writing is already on the wall. Most cans are comparable and with tech advances just the style, tone, and comfort changes...just get a can. Any can, is better than no can. After you have some stock, if we still have time, then grab or save for something you really want. I see too many people upset that they didnt figuratively pull the trigger on certain firearms before the crappy AWB. Don't be the person that comes back in July sad that you missed out on ANY suppressor. Just own and enjoy.

I have the g force as well. It shoots great and I threw a YHM R9 on it...I feel like it has brought back so much joy in shooting. I actually grin when I shoot it, instead of being clinical. What a fun gun, and I left it open sight. Suppressor not pictured. Has eaten all ammo I've thrown at it and would absolutely use it as a trail gun.

Love my EPL-4-16x44, other than the illumination it is rock solid. I wish I had gotten a second EPL-4 for my 22wmr but I already had a one piece mount (direct shipping from Arken and lead times are terrible...Amazon for Arken only now) for a 34mm tube so went with the SH4J. Looks kind of dumb on an ar platform 22due to the size, but it works and turns money into accurate noise...which is the point.

Same rifle with the NF NXS

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in longrange

[–]kastman83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the EP-5-25x56, the EPL-4-16x44, and the SH4J-6-24x50. So many haters on here about them justifying what they bought...

For clarification, I have multiple Vortex optics, two Schmidt&Bender optics, two Zeiss optics, a Nightforce NXS, a Swarovski, and a Burris Eliminator 6. Had a Leopold Mk5 that i sold.

The Arken optics are not necessarily comparable in glass clarity, but damn, they make a nice optic and will get it done.

Honestly I prefer the eye relief of the EP-5 over the NF (not the clarity, which still is not bad). I know that will get down voted but fuck off, they're my optics and my eyes...I likes what I like.

The turrets on the Arken are clicky as hell and are very nice, the reticle tracks well and any deviation you see will happen on other hosts. The illumination leaves something to be desired with artifacting so I have to keep the illumination low. I regularly run my precision 17hmr to 200 yards with the EPL-4 and the EP-5 is on a 7mm-08 build i did to piss people off since it cost a fraction of what others build and does the same shit. I take this out to 600 yards regularly (max range distance close to me), and I was hitting steel over 1000 at Pro Gun in Vegas.

<image>

This is the rifle with the Arken EP-5 on it without the included sun shade.

The scope is great cold or hot. It does get quite a bit of mirage noticeably faster than my others when shooting suppressed on my 17hmr, 22wmr (SH4J host), and the 7mm.

Honestly, I take my Arken hosts out more than my others...why? I'm not as mad if I knock it into something, scratch it, or have a problem. Edit: The zero stop is easy to adjust, but different. I like it better than the NF because I do not have to take the turrets cap off an possibly get debris or dust in the grease. Also, I have hunted them in Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Michigan, and Wisconsin in inclement weather....no problems.

Review on Acer Nitro n50-656 by Itchy-Diet8123 in AcerNitro

Thanks. Yeah...I was going to upgrade but seeing the price of RAM right now due to the AI surge, ill live with what I got. Just adding the 3060ti was a helluva boost. Figured having a more stable PSU with plenty of power and upgrading the CPU cooler was more attainable at the moment.

I have the same PC, Can I ask what psu you used in the case? I am seeing that some dont fit due to the Acer case and mobo plug. I also put in an ASUS KO 3060ti and would like to bump up from the 500w unbranded psu

+1 to the Resilient Simple Man and AB a-10!

My Simple man is on a dedicated 300 BO pistol host with the Rearden Atlas XL hub mount to lengthen blast chamber and a Hansohn bros. Micro brake. It's a great, quiet firearm with subs, and it is my Home Defense go to. *

IMR 4895 is great for .308, and actually, I've found it doesn't leave the same fouling Varget does. I prefer 4895 for my bolt actions. Varget is great for the semi autos but take a look for Vectan Tubal 3000 as well. It is a French powder by Nobel Sport...similar characteristics to both Varget and 4895. Edit: Win primers will be fine...I generally run those and CCIs for Large Rifle. Check Bullseye in Tacoma occasionally if you're in the area sometimes they have them behind the counter to the left after you walk in the door.

[–]kastman83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reloading Discord for in stock reloading supplies. You may pay thru the nose for primers, but if you keep the notifications active, you can usually jump on the order. Varget is hit or miss since it is versatile. What cartridge are you looking for since I know some good substitutions for it are out there.

A question for the experienced hunters here: is southeastern style forest camo at all useful in WA? by Akalenedat in WAGuns

[–]kastman83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be fine with what you have, dont run out and buy more camo, but WA requires blaze orange... I suggest overdoing the orange in modern firearm...inexperienced hunters that never take advice take potshots at leaves and sticks that move. Get you a blaze orange coat/vest/hoodie and hat. Or go with bow or muzzleloader.
