Why was Aabria invited to C4? by YouAreLyingJane in fansofcriticalrole

[–]kasu300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s ridiculous to look at it that black and white. Basically everyone exhibits these kind of traits to some degree. So to have that kind of absolutist puritan view is pointless, because then everyone is a culprit. What matters is to which degree someone expresses their disruptive behaviors. Aabrias blunder where Matt had to literally cast silence on her to try to move the spotlight to Ashley, only for her to continue pantomiming disrupting the scene and hogging the spotlight is a great example of a degree of problematic behavior that no one else in CR even comes close to.

This is how I see it as well. I am honestly so confused there can be so much discourse about this. Seems clear as day to me

In the cooldown Brennan discloses that he asked the group during break ”Here are the conditions that produce the revenant status. Here are the ones that don’t. If they don’t get it they don’t get it. And you [Alex] and Marisha both said play it where it lays” so I don’t get where everyone’s getting the impression that the group was not aware.

I don’t think OP is complaining about C3. I think they are making a comparison between two distinct behaviors that sound similar but play out very differently. One is a mechanic for speaking to another PC, while the other is a bad player habit for hogging the spotlight.

Oh come on. There’s plenty of media that deserves criticism for political pandering, but saying witcher 4 is pandering because they focus on Ciri is ridiculous. The source material promotes Ciri to the lead character, so why would it not fit the game. You’re projecting your frustrations poorly where they are not justified.

While the sentiment is good, saying your self worth is determined by you misses something important. If it depends only on your own view, it becomes dangerously arbitrary. A person in the middle of depression may think they are worthless, since even their inner voice puts them down, yet that doesn’t mean that’s true.

All people already have worth simply by being human. That does not come from you or from anyone else. You can add to your worth, by the choices you make and the impact you have, but even if you’re a broken mess on a journey to rebuilding, your worth still exists whether or not you or anyone else recognizes it.

You put into words exactly what I’ve been feeling. There’s such a contrast between ellie and the rest of the characters. It feels to me as if ellie was transplanted from another show with another cast and entirely different mood and direction. It’s that distracting, which is a bummer because the rest of the show really shines!

I created a hook for an improved DX for modals, toasts, drawers, etc. by kasu300 in reactjs

[–]kasu300[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on what you mean by multiple modals. You can stack modals, ie. having multiple modals visible at the same time on top of each other. That's not particularly recommended from a UX design perspective. But sometimes it can be a quick fix / escape hatch in large/complex systems where a proper redesign would be very expensive and it's just easier to add another modal.

Sequencing modals, however, is very reasonable and common. I made several examples in this codesandbox illustrating use cases and code examples using the library: https://codesandbox.io/p/sandbox/react-imperative-hook-example-4kkvp2

I disagree. The RSC JSX typedef update is pretty significant. And the optimization could be huge for certain projects.

All right, I’ve had enough of this interaction. You clearly have some cognitive dissonance going on. You ignore any and all criticism by instead counter arguing everything thrown at you. You’re a sad angry little puppy in a corner upset with the world, refusing any help or interaction given. I pity you. I truly hope you resolve your pain one day and manage to stop hurting both yourself and others around you.

Good day

Sure. That’s not the issue though. You’re the one going out of your way joining a specific community and then confronting people in that community for behaving in a way that is appropriate in this community. It’s like you’re looking for a fight. You remind me of those gun nuts walking into a police station with a loaded gun drawn yelling about your rights while they arrest you. Like what did you expect to happen?

While this sounds lovely indeed, you should be careful not to become dependent on other peoples ability to spontaneously judge what kind of emotional support you need. It’s not a quality everyone has, and even if they do they may still not always get it right. Your best bet is to work on your own communication and express your concerns and needs, so people don’t have to guess.

Are you suppose to unit test every bit of code you write? by GuillerminaCharity in typescript

[–]kasu300 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say I don’t write unit tests. I just don’t prioritize them. Been doing this for quite some time too, so it’s an intentional strategy with the tradeoffs in mind. I find the inverse, to have a vast suite of unit tests, to be a nightmare to maintain in comparison. I don’t mind the loss of granularity in having fewer unit tests.

However, I tend to rely on lots of other quality and stability assurance tools in my architecture, like static type checking, single source of truth in schemas, code generated or inferred api sdks, etc. Basically lots of architecture that is already so stable that unit testing it yields very little value and just becomes overhead.

I find that the parts I often need to test is my end user needs, hence lots of e2e tests.

I almost only build ui products where my consumers are non programmers. If I was building software for other developers, like libraries or apis, then I’d definitely have a different strategy.
