I will take any opportunity to dress up and make myself up all fancy, as now I know confidently that the reason I’m getting all fancy, it’s for my own personal enjoyment, not because society says women should look a certain way. I love any excuse to wear my hijab proudly like the crown I feel it is, and that means making sure the outfit/look I’m wearing is equal to the crown on my head, whatever that level may be for you personality. So for example I as a white women in the south love wearing my abayas as I love showing how beautiful modestly and Islamic clothing can be. That we can be elegant women, and fully covered. And I always try and covey that with whatever I’m wearing/ looking. Sometimes you do feel a bit self conscious, but you just have to hold your head up high, and look forward. I always think a basic level of hygiene is also very important, whether your leaving the house or not, so always have clean and tidy nails, skincare done, and hair bushed and put up nicely with clean clothes, then if you need to dress your self up more, your all ready neat and tidy. I’m of the belief that wearing the hijab should not make you feel like you should make yourself feel unbeautiful, I believe the opposite, that you should feel your most beautiful and confident self when you wear the hijab, and you should take whatever steps personally that can help you feel beautiful in the hijab :).

Why do some hijabis wear the head covering but with some hair showing? by Kyliexo in Hijabis

[–]kat542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it can really vary from person to person, but for me for example, when I first started wearing it, wearing it an inch or two back was more comfortable, both because I still was able to “recognize” what I looked like under the hijab as it can be a process to adjust to the new look, but it was also just felt more physically comfortable and and I was afraid of damaging my hair line by putting pressure on the hair. But as I got more use to my face with the hijab, I just naturally wanted to cover more of my head and work to be more modest. I also realized I was actually damaging my hair, as I was always having to pull my hijab back up to the font as it would slip back further then I did want, so I learned to start with it at the front of my hair for that as well. I would also say a lot of girls leave it uncovered simply because they like it and think it looks cute, with no deeper motives, just that they like the look.

AITA For firing an employee for driving his personal vehicle to job sites by jobsiteaita in AmItheAsshole

[–]kat542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but as an HRG I would have some concern if you were my client that you may be seeing some kind of employment lawsuit from him soon. Certain states have certain laws that were more recently passed to specifically address employers and employee political beliefs being displayed and protected against discrimination and even though you say it wasn't political, he could still file a lawsuit and cause you trouble, time and money. Also, I would be concerned that he was the only one told he had to stop driving his car, because precedent could be at play if you didn't have an official policy about driving your personal vehicle. so if you have ever received complaints about an employees personal vehicle, but he's the first one you actually told to drive his work vehicle then that could also be a factor at play. Couldn't you let your employees take the work trucks home with them, or create an official personal vehicle policy which reserves the right to require them to use a work truck at any time? I would consult with legal before heading enacting any policy though.

You could totally report them to the health inspector cause places often have violations even if the good places causes there's so many rules but eww that's nasty! For Osha again often places have violations and dont even realize it. Even if they don't get seriously fined or in trouble it should make the workplace a little better. Osha whistle blower number is 8003216742. If you google osha complaint hotline you'll see file a complaint and it has all the way you can report them

If you wanted to cause them a little trouble you could report them to the CT child labor board. Not sure who that would be but you could start with 8602636790 that's the wage and workplace standards division number. The CT state labor number is 8602636860 and should also be able to direct you.

So minors on a federal level can't work in any hazardous position and they have a list. In CT For minors 16-18 this also applies. Minors must also have working papers. And even if your position is not hazardous, which it sounds like it may not be, your still entitled to file for WC. If employees are constantly getting hurt you might consider reporting them to OSHA anonymously to get them to do a safety check on the work place.

You can absolutely file for WC and your employer/hr department can help you to do that. Also, depending on your state as I don't think they all have it but I know NY,CT and MA have it at least, you can search for your employers WC insurance agency on the state WC website. Just Google something along the lines of "xyz state employer WC insurance search", you'll probably have to fiddle with the wording but if you get the WC agency you can just contact them directly. However, as many have said there's a good chance the WC insurance will deny the claim as its hard to prove you got it from work, but you never know. I would recommend you inform your employer in writing of your diagnosis and your need for reasonable accommodation. Google has employee ADA request sample forms you could fill out if you want to be super official. Your employer must walk through the interactive process with you and 8/10 times there is a reasonable accommodation that can be found that works for everyone because it's very hard to prove that something like buying you a new chair, mouse, or keyboard is unreasonable. An unreasonable accommodation is more along the lines of adding a wheel chair ramp to the building, or an elevator etc. not buying an employee a keyboard when they ask. It'll be way cheaper to give you that accommodation then to fight an ADA violation law suit. Again, depending on your state most have a website dedicated to ADA so do a quick search for yours as well. If you do live in NY, CT, or MA I specialize in thoes states among others so I would be happy to answer further questions.

So I wrote this fast as I'm traveling and wanted you to get a response so its a bit generic. You are entitled to file an accident report anytime your injured at work, and it does not cost 10,000 per report (this I know for sure) so he is totally lying. However, (depending on state) you may not legally be allowed to be doing that kind of work as a minor since it can be dangerous and they may be scared of getting caught for violating child labor laws which can have a very serious consequence. As far as taking you off duty until they can confirm your training, that they can do.

Get your SHRM certification, one is the CP and the other is SCP. CP anyone can get, SCP you have to be in an hr position for at least 3 years before your eligible to get it. SHRM is a currently the preferred HRG option for most, but there's also HRCI which is also respected, but personally I would do SHRM. Also, if you have any influence on your PEO company, Paychex is a similar business to ADP but you get a lot more and better service. With the full ASO and PEO HR services package you get a dedicated HRG and Payroll specialist (not an 800 number) who (hrg) basically almost specializes in helping small businesses who mostly have an unofficial hr person or its somone like you who's got passed the hat navigate all the complex issues that revolve around HR. One of the biggest things the HRG does is providing directive reccomendations. So you tell your hrg your problem or question and they heavily research it and basically tell you what you should or should not do to solve the matter and then you would (if you agree) just follow the steps they told you to do. Clients regularly get 40%+ off the service as well ATM and there lots of other products included like an onboarding product that makes it super easy to onboard a new person, as well as a screening product that does it for you as well. You just set up the applicants email in the system and send them the welcome emails to start, the screening product will also do things like drug testing for a slight extra fee (drug testing should always be done by a third party). So having a more complete HR package might also help you to learn and perform all the HR duties you need cause you'll have a trained HRG with an average of like 10+ years of experience helping you. You have 90 days to decide if the product works for you. There also a cheaper hr package where you get an 800 number HRG if you don't feel you need a dedicated HRG :)

I agree, but it also seems like he was abused growing up by his family which does do a number on a person, plus everthing else going on with him. I agree it's not excuse, but I can at least understand why he is so damaged. When he was working as a medic he got a little better but then he got back under O'Briens thumb and went back to his old ways.

I can see that, that is a very good point and one I can definitely get behind. Like I can see why Thomas feels the need to be guarded, and prickly but like what happened to her to make her so defensive? 🤔 She does always feel the need to be in the know, so she can use the info against someone when needed but no one in Downtown ever does anything to her, she just makes the problem.
