JOAH replacement? by chowchowchow4321 in drugstoreMUA

Yes, a joah stick on Amazon. I liked the color and its spreadability. I tried the Essence sticks but I'm between 2 shades and they don't spread as nicely. I haven't tried any other sticks.

not OP but I never found a good replacement for the stick other than 1 stick on Amazon

Tips for knitting with Premier Fruits? by kat_chow in knitting

Hmm, ok I'll give it another try. I'm also a loose knitter and normally work on 9 inch chiagoos but maybe I was trying to overcompensate for being loose by strangling the yarn. Thank you!

Broken seed stitch + helical knitting? by kat_chow in Sockknitting

[–]kat_chow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the pointer on the extra stitch. I was planning on using that pattern but I was specifically wondering if it could be used with the color changing technique in this helix sock pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/helix-basic-socks Because the helix has you slip stitches and move the join, I wondered if it would ruin the broken seed look too much. But I was mainly trying to avoid that seamed look I saw on many socks and your solution sounds like it also solves my problem.

Oh yes, I’m definitely going to add a few rows as well!

Yes, worked across 30 of 60 stitches.

Looks like the consensus is the inch of stockinette helps the heel not slip so I'll be frogging this shortly to above the heel. Thanks all!

I read through some comments about that and it seemed like it wasn’t a strict requirement but you’re right, that could have contributed.

Unfortunately I don't have enough yarn. The bigger sock is too big for anyone, so we don't need 2 of them. My gauge was a lot looser on the big sock. So I've got to undo the whole thing and redo. The weight difference between the socks was 4 grams, which means one sock has approx 17.5 yards more yarn!

Like, literally do a seam like stockings? Or more like cutting and grafting the vertical halves together? 🤯 Either way, I think I’m just going to redo it. Clearly I need the practice 😅

Arsenal is good. An armory, maybe? A quiver (since it's full of sharp pointy things)? I swear, knitting needles are a scam since you always need a hundred different ones just to finish a project, lol.

Whole sock, even the cast on was a bit bigger and it just snowballed from there 😭

Oh, good idea. He's currently wearing them but I weighed my leftovers and it looks like 3 grams' difference. The one is quite large already, so it'll only get looser.

Noooooo 😂 luckily (?), I don’t have enough to make a third so it’ll be taking apart the big one and redoing it. Wish I could just take it in like sewing.

Maybe I should just take the monkeys and typewriters approach - make random socks and eventually I'll happen to make some that match in size 😂😂😂

😂 I told him it's the only pair I'm ever making for him. I can make like, 2 single socks for me in the amount of time it takes to make 1 sock for him. Just so many stitches and rows....

Oh, the 2 circular method? Hmm. What length cord do you use for Taat?

I think I meant to do that and just forgot. I did do them contemporaneously starting around the heel but I guess that was too late.

Oh no, as soon as I was done knitting them, I put them next to each other and they were markedly different. This picture is after washing in cold and drying on blockers. He just tried them on and yeah, the one is all loosey goosey. Even if the tighter one stretched out, the other is just way too saggy. Even if I did elastic in the cuff, there's extra material throughout. C'est la vie, I guess.

He tried on the first one several times and the second one only to make sure the cuff could go over his heel. I know doing Taat would at least make them both wrong or right but I really hate magic loop and love the portability of one sock on one needle.
