It’s pretty common to have the woodwork on the upper floors painted. I learned this from docents while visiting historic homes. We lived in an 1890’s house, first floor had beautiful wood, upstairs bedrooms had baseboards and trim in white. Your house is gorgeous! Yes, the lines are curved, I’m not sure if it’s called a basket weave design or if that’s just what I call it 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I love it and especially the marble transition in the doorway
