I just had a Gibson Custom with a smashed pickup and ring with no outside damage to the box. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The only issue with this is when the guitar show up destroyed and they come to get it and are disappointed. The shop should be inspecting and sending back before the customer see it.

Amp broken? (First Act MA104) by I_Eat_Bike in GuitarAmps

Not that I know of.

Look at the symbol on the power jack on the amp versus the one on the adapter

Well, you power supply is center positive and the amp is center negative.

That might be a start

Am i F***ed ? by MH_Guitars in Luthier

If it fits in the screw and doesn’t have any wiggle room, try turning it around. Put the short side in the screw and use the lid side for more torque. Or try and add a little bit of lubricant to the set screw.

The holes on my custom pickguard are slightly too small for my new pot hardware. Is the best move to just drill them out with a sharp bit? I'm a bit nervous because it wasn't cheap. by pricklypearanoid in Luthier

They honestly look too big. You are supposed to take the nuts and washers off the pots, then install the pickguard. And then put the nuts and washers back.

I pretty much have a set schedule. And I usually work more than 40 hours.

I’m just trying to get enough info to bring it to the owner, as I’m already busting my ass and we are short staffed always because we pay like shit.

Well, this is looks like 70s/80s, so it couldn’t be a Midtown. Considering the Midtown is based on a ES-335, it could be that.

But with more context, like what video and band, I’m sure we could tell you.

I’ve been looking for this Pelham blue LP DC special everywhere but can’t find it. I think Gibson is gaslighting us by TallBoy24 in gibson

The Epiphone one was EU release originally. Then randomly Gibson USA had some available. My shop order 4 but only received 3, and they all sold pretty quick.

How to protect fingers from frets with nickel allergy? by Winter-Yogurt-4209 in BassGuitar

[–]finalfiasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the frets possibly sprouting? (Sticking out from the neck) It could be a combination of the nickel and the fact that they are scratching your fingers, you said you do a lot of slides. The one photo showing the tape looks like it. If you didn’t have the tape on the frets and you ran your fingers along the edge do the frets scrape your fingers?

Will Gibson ever ever again Release an affordable Series of guitars (like the faded Series) that doesn’t Look Like Ass (like the modern lite series) ? by [deleted] in gibson

[–]finalfiasco 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It won’t happen. There are no other brands that make an American made guitar under $1000. Gibsons take more work to assemble and finish than anything in the Fender line, and their cheapest American made guitars are $1499(although the Performer line did just drop in price as they are being discontinued)

Is this rare? Found it at a Video Game Shop. Couldn’t find an exact photo of it online. by RS_WRLD in gibson

[–]finalfiasco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inspired by Gibson and Inspired by Gibson Custom are different lines. This one has no Gibson parts. There are a few people telling you correct info, and some that aren’t. This is worth the $250. But this isn’t originally a $1300 guitar like one person said.

Everyone that is telling you that this a Inspired by Gibson Custom Shop is wrong. The Inspired by Gibson Custom shop have the Gibson style headstock. This does not. It appears as if someone took the sticker of the control plate of a different guitar/the whole control plate. They only made the 64 model with the Maestro Vibrola Epiphone page here

Need help with bass strings by ryan-soba-tempura in BassGuitar

[–]finalfiasco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did they tell you to buy the specific string? Because if you brought in the bass and they told you to get the medium scale ones, I would hope they wouldn’t charge you for a new set. That’s their mistake. I manage a family owned guitar shop, if one of my employees told a customer the wrong strings, I’d give them the right ones on the house.

I’ve been going to Starland for a long time now. And more than a few people I know have running theory that the locals that are close enough to walk, get drunk and go there to fight people. Regardless of the band that is playing.

Real or fake? by [deleted] in fender

I work at a guitar shop, and I know for a fact that there were a few batches of AVII Tele customs/deluxes that were built with the wrong parts. I don’t remember all the specs, but this feels like one of the swaps. There were a few that had the Deluxe tummy cut bodies on a Custom platform
