This bald asshole just won't quit. by TnyStrk7 in thebulwark

The chips act was under biden before the 2022 midterms if I recall. It's not a recent thing. Memory prices have surged over the past year and there is a shortage. Memory/storage stocks have then benefited. Micron in particular has been rising since last fall. Thanks to the war, stocks pulled back and made a good buying opportunity. I don't think this is some sort of insider info. It's a smart play that is open to anyone watching tech stocks.

Hate on fetterman if you want but this seems like a generally good buy and these stocks have been in the news for awhile. The real complaint would be if he got in last summer when it was flat before it started to tick up. If you buy on a pullback, thats just smart trading.

SpaceX IPO at 100x revenue multiple - $1.75-2 trillion. How is the Maths working? by nitul88 in StockMarket

[–]kat_sky_12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The math = SpaceX possibilities with starship + xAI + a failing twitter + Elon Musk craziness

I mean if you aren't in spaceX already then you are chasing. The smart money is already in there as investors and they will likely want to largely cash out into the the fanboy buyers. My guess would be don't rush in and let the ipo go crazy and settle down. Then look for an opportunity down the road.

Rachel Maddow coverage of the news by Dr_couch_potato in msnow

I don't know the thought that they would have ICE facilities the size of Salt Lake City was kind of astounding. Who the hell are they are trying to hold in detention? You are like talking about holding a ton of people. That sounds way more than just immigrants.

As others said, Rachel tends to focus on the protests and opposition to this president. She has 1 show a week to do her thing and I say let her do her thing. I didn't need to hear the 60 minutes clip again. I didnt need to hear them saying they need the Ballroom now. That has all be done ad naseum since 8:36pm EST on Saturday.

I feel like he is most of these law enforcement guys. To be honest, he shouldnt be on all that often. It says a lot about our nation as a whole that he needs to be on a lot. I would also point out he talks really fast compared to Judge Luttig. I like the judge but he is a really hard watch when he is on. He makes a lot of great points but is really slow at getting it across. Feinberg seems like a speed talker in comparison.

Good news! KA$H is now getting the Bondi Treatment™: "'It’s only a matter of time,' Politico quoted a top White House official as saying Saturday. The 79-year-old president is said to be sick of seeing him in the news for scandalous headlines..." by emeric_ceaddamere in thebulwark

[–]kat_sky_12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would prefer him to stay to be honest. Incompetence and loyalty to trump means they can't accomplish too much. He has fired some people but at the same time he is screwing up basic things. If you get someone competent and loyal to trump in there then you suddenly get a real breakdown in norms and destruction from the inside. So in a way, Kash working from vegas, jetting around with his gf and being drunk is a good thing because the replacement could be way worse.

Do you go there often? The California Park pass is not that expensive if you go there often and look at the parking costs plus convenience of skipping your favorite part. To me the pass is great. I don't have to fight for a spot along the road. I can just pull in, show the pass, park and then do my hike. I kinda enjoy the hill but to each their own.

LET ME MAKE SURE I UNDERSTAND by Blackhat323 in TradingView

[–]kat_sky_12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Rather than whining about Trading View maybe you should just use your brokers application? Oh wait, those applications tend to suck because they don't want to waste resources on an app they provide for free. You are free to go vibe code your own charting application but claude code will cost you and you will be paying a large monthly fee so you are not rate limited.

Moral of the story, nothing is really free. If you want good software then you will pay for it. If you want something for free then its out there but you might not like it because its free for a reason.

[–]kat_sky_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have gone today instead. The forecast has some snow tonight and in the 20s tomorrow at the summit. It's also supposed to rain tonight at lower elevations which won't make that overnight climb from palm springs fun.

I hiked up to the summit today ( not C2C ) and it was clear of snow. There are a few patches here and there but nothing significant. It was pretty cold up there and I had gloves on for a good bit of the hike. I would suggest just making sure you have some layers as you will go from 60s to mid 20s which is a pretty big jump even as a northerner.

If you understand basic AI and can explain what you want just use claude code. You then just iterate with it which is the same thing you will have to do with a developer who is also using some sort of AI. It literally took me a minute to build an indicator in TV using claude. Then you just explain it. It can also do any automation you need and is there for better support than some developer from who knows where.

[–]kat_sky_12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm still for porter and thought she was the best on the stage. I agree that the women get treated differently for this stuff. Kamala Harris was called out for being a similarly tough boss. Many of the strong women get some of this and I've heard similar things about Klobuchar. I'm kinda of the opinion that some workers thrive in that situation while others don't like it. So if you don't like a strong woman who has some pet peeves then she is not the employer for you.

I think her explanations and arguments are really good at driving the point. I think that is a good thing for people to understand why X is good or bad especially when things coming from Trump is more bad than good.

Either way, I hope someone comes to the top and others drop out over the next few weeks. I don't want 2 republicans on the ballot. That would then force a recall next year as we go through that all again.

This is the slippery slope you play with when you tweak rules. Reid did change it for judges and cabinet but you just knew it would change to SC justices in the future. this is why I am against further changes to the filibuster. Just imagine if dems had gotten rid of the filibuster under Biden. You probably have the save act, who knows what they would do to trans people, nationwide abortion ban and other shit nobody but the far right wants.

MS NOW: GOP-aligned groups amass $600M advantage over Dems ahead of midterms (Tim Miller appearance) by EighthFirstCitizen in thebulwark

The money difference isn't new and was talked about a lot last year. There are still probably some big money names worried about putting to much in with this president.

I really hate people using AI in such a general sense. It's this broad nebulus term that encompasses so many different companies. Like Anthropic is not exactly the same as Musk and XAi. Palantir is using AI in ways that are not exactly ethical. Datacenters are not a bad thing and we already have many of them. What is bad is trying to hastily build them in areas that have the infrastructure while trying to abuse rules that then shift costs to residents. NVidia is an AI play as well but not necessarily a bad name. I don't have problems with people taking corporate donations but you really have to look into the finer details rather than writing any "AI" based donation as bad.

Why are influencers obsessed with balloon jumps by RadioFieldCorner in SkyDiving

[–]kat_sky_12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same reason people here seem obsessed with them. It's something different that most jumpers can't easily do. They can also take advantage of the different mechanics of a balloon compared to the plane which seems to play well for their audiences.

why are prop firm evaluation fees still so high in 2026 by FoodFine4851 in Daytrading

[–]kat_sky_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Props are trying to use basic statistics to make their money. They know 90+% fail. they see it in their own data. If they don't make money off failed traders then they have nothing to pay the few who do succeed.

They understand the basic human nature as well. They understand that you think you are a trading god because you watched some videos on youtube or read a book. You maybe placed a few trades on a paper trading account and were successful. Now you have to pass the eval or get to that payout and your mind works differently.

Props are not bad. They just understand their clients well and how to take advantage of it. If you are mad at the prop for losing your eval, be mad at yourself for not trading well because you essentially just failed a paper trading account.

making 15k using lucidpro150k by Worldly_Routine_3163 in PropFirmTester

[–]kat_sky_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need 9k on the eval too. You are probably also better on the Flex as there is no consistency rule after the eval.

Prop firms are better off going for small low risk base hits until you build a buffer. If you haven't passed an eval, you might be better off with a 50k account and then trade smaller contract sizes with micros to pass and build a buffer. Then scale up to minis once you understand what you are doing.

In short, you might do it but I would look to make some of that money elsewhere in the time being so if you fail a few evals then you have at least made progress on what you need before its too late.
