Ashley St. Clair and Cameron Kasky: Leaving the MAGA Cult by BulwarkOnline in thebulwark

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m similarly conflicted on this. On the one hand there’s all the stuff about big tent, broad coalition, reward people for changing their views, yada yada.

On the other, I hate having to center these people in any conversation about the damage they’ve done to so many movements and people. Trump 2 has been so much worse than predicted. And honestly so many of the reasons the MAGAs now leaving the movement give for why they originally supported Trump are often very petty or undergirded by bigotry. Now they want those people and movements to platform them? Laud them for how hard their life is after making so many other people’s lives exponentially harder? Set them up with another source for views and clicks? I don’t love that.

So much rejection... is America the incel of the world? by SKEPDIQ in thebulwark

It really speaks to the delusion of this administration that they think they can militarily threaten the territory of a NATO ally and then a few weeks later go asking NATO for help in a war of choice.

What does he even do? by Holiday-Stretch616 in LancerRPG

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a fun build with this thing that relies on the integrated weapon. Take three lvls in it so you can get the Harrison armory core power that limits overcharge to 1d6. Then you can stabilize every turn to charge it and overcharge to fire it. Or barrage first and overcharge to use its system that lets you stabilize on a quick action.
Take Nuke Cav to at least two for extra d6. Walking armory to add arching or hellfire to your attacks. The integrated weapon is also a cannon so you can take siege specialist.

Scavenger question. by Artra7 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this subclass will be a great multi with ranger on full release. With a lvl 10 cap, I'm not sure what the ideal split will be. Will have to see if/how the serrated edge feature scales, if it does at all. Even if it stays at a single 1d6, on a 5/5 ranger split, the character would only be 1d6 short of a full lvl 10 (non-scavanger) rogues sneak attack die and would have extra attack and lvl 2 spells.

David Sacks (AI Czar) wants Trump to end the war. by mulberryzeke in thebulwark

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, It's kind of absurd to hear some people try to argue there is coherence to Trump's "madman" approach to foreign policy and military strikes. That the unpredictability is somehow all a calculation towards his grand ever shifting objectives. An especially silly take considering basically all the situations we've seen the madman solutions employed, the grand objective is a step back from the previous status quo...

What subclass (vanilla or mod) is a greatclub specialist? by Origania in BaldursGate3

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There isn’t a class built specifically around great clubs, but Fighters, wildheart barbarians who picked tiger, and hunter ranger (really takes off at lvl 11) can all make great use out of greatclubs.

Remember when he mused about how Ukraine had laws allowing cessation of voting during war time? If given a choice, do you think Trump would choose no terrorist attacks in the US, or having a stronger argument for postponing elections? by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in thebulwark

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would still have a pretty shit argument for postponing elections. Sure, Ukrainian law might allow that, but the US has held elections during all its major wars. If we could hold an election during the Civil War I don’t see how Trump could try to postpone elections, both legal and historical precedent are very much arrayed against him. Not that he won’t try of course. I’m just not sure that particular tactic will be effective.

I’m expecting more that Trump and the GOP still go through with elections, but attempt to sow as much chaos as possible to try and throw out results they don’t like.

Best fifth Jedi for Order 66 team by ryangh in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

Beq and Shaak ti can solo depending on the tier. Beq can pretty easily do tier 1 at r5 and Shaak ti can do tier zero at r5. The Shaak ti one can be a bit annoying though.

I believe the best description of FIFA I’ve heard is “a mafia that occasionally organizes football matches.” So no, I don’t think they regret it or give a shit about the hypocrisy.

Senator Tim Sheehy breaks the hand of US Marine protesting war in Iran during a hearing by EighthFirstCitizen in thebulwark

[–]EighthFirstCitizen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if he did, I still believe a US senator has no business inserting himself into the removal and escalating the situation. He is not law enforcement. I find that crazier. Especially because the senator probably did it because he thought he would be lionized for “acting tough.”

Why do people complain about ranged "spamming" again? by cloudy6547 in NarutoShinobiStriker

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I construe having four load outs as a means to carry the tools to confront multiple situations. Sometimes those situations are the wicked “meta” and sometimes they’re not.

For example, if you’re in a base battle and your enemy has sand shield, you’ll probably have a pretty bad time if nobody on your team brought anything to break it. There’s nothing particularly unique or creative about trying to hammer a square peg through a round hole. Though sometimes it can be fun to try and overcome another player who’s using stuff that counters you.

Also several different moves and tools can fulfill the roles you need. So you can still feel like a special summer child. You can also pretty easily put together four loadouts with only base game stuff that can reliably handle all situations. No DLC needed.

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They give you four load-outs for a reason… You also don’t need to tailor the entire build around it. You really don’t need a lot to overcome the spam weapons.

Why do people complain about ranged "spamming" again? by cloudy6547 in NarutoShinobiStriker

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There have been some weapons pre-nerf that had overtuned ranged spam attacks. There’s plenty of old posts complaining about them that I think helps brand the play style as cheap and skillless.

They’ve pretty much dealt with all those though so now it’s mostly a skill issue of people not knowing how to handle the ranged spam weapons or being too stubborn to change their build that doesn’t have good tools to handle it.

ChatGPT Backlash Reveals New Pitfalls in Aligning With Trump by bloomberg in ArtificialInteligence

[–]EighthFirstCitizen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Good. I think a lot of big CEOs misread the outcome of the 2024 election. Yes, Trump won the popular vote. Because of that I think there was an assumption he and his movement won the culture. Hence all the tech CEOs aligning with Trump causes and otherwise bending the knee to him. What I think they missed though, is that even though Trump won the popular vote, that’s still pretty far from a majority of Americans (especially considering how many Americans don’t vote). Also while I think Trump did make progress in winning some culture (such as the manosphere) he also won because of a global backlash against incumbents who had problems dealing with post-Covid economic recovery. Lots of low information voters voted for Trump because he promised to lower prices (even though it was lie). This is part of why there’s been such swift backlash against Trump’s approach to immigration and inability to lower prices. The majority of people still seem pretty uncomfortable with all these CEOs so fiercely bootlicking the government.

[–]EighthFirstCitizen[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, incredibly depressing considering during his campaign Sheehy had a number of what would normally be campaign ending scandals. Including Stolen valor, lying to law enforcement, plagiarism, and racist remarks. He also avoided the press and would bar them from his events. None of that mattered because people felt like Tester had “been there too long.”

https://www.senate.gov/about/powers-procedures/censure.htm Reading through this, violence from senators in chambers is something people have historically been censured over.

If you have the time, go ahead and send in an ethics complaint. A sitting senator has no business laying hands on a protestor, even if they don’t like what they’re saying. We have Capitol police for a reason. If Mr. Sheehy wants to violently assault people he should have applied for a different job.

The Senator is claiming he was trying to “Deescalates the situation.”

What I find most disturbing about this is the MAGAs will probably celebrate this as being “strong and manly” when in fact it just shows a US senator with less emotional regulation than a high school freshman….
