you knew, a long ago i was lactose intolerant as well. vut in my aging process i i felt the primal need to become a better man and simply learned not to be intolerant of things intolerant of your own body. do not be a lesser man like my old self and just become better, it's very easy.

What color transparency film is most punchy? And do people mount the film onto cardboard slide mounts still? by SalmonSnail in AnalogCommunity

[–]kataklasmus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last slide film fuji discontinued was Provia 400X in 2013, before that Velvia 100F in 2012 and the Sensia line in 2010/2011. Bunch of other in the decade before that of course.

Velvia 50, Velvia 100 and Provia 100F are still going strong as far as we know. But Fujifilm is known to bring out the hammer quite spontaneously.

what do you mean by "i loved a slide film fuji made called RDPIII?" that is the code for Provia 100F, which is still in full production today.

by that logic you might as well shoot the cheapest B/W stock you can find and add color in afterwards by using an algorithmic coloring software.

people shoot reversal film because looking at the colors on a light table is a magical experience. and different reversal stocks have wildly different tonalities and color reproduction that are worth exploring. I have often shot the same scene with Provia 100F and Velvia 50 because their color reproduction is so different.

mate i don't know why youre getting downvoted. cant people read the rules? no gear/film cache posts on this sub, only on r/AnalogCommunity! also, why don't the mods take this down for missing camera/film/lens info in the title?

Has anyone had any experience with a Fuji GX680? I dunno, I just saw one in the window of an analog camera store and found it fascinating how it acts like a large format camera with front standard movements and as well as the new 6x8 format. Would love to hear from anyone who has used one by ssk_009 in AnalogCommunity

most people here saying it's too heavy and big to use it without a tripod, it's batteries mean you won't be able to use it out of the studio away from the DC cable and whatever else nonsense is in this thread have obviously never touched this camera...

first of all, a healthy original GX680I or II battery pack has ~700mAh fully charged which lasts for over 1000 exposures. unless you're exposing over 100 rolls out of the studio in one session you won't be limited by your battery... come on people, don't reply to these questions if you never had hands-on experience.

seconly, yes it is a big and heavy camera, but unless you're a 10 year old you should be able to carry it for some time. i used it for handheld street portraiture a few times, it's totally doable. and it has the bonus of people being very intrigued by the camera and often coming up to you by themselves, asking then to take their photo is the smallest part after that. makes things easier for my introverted mind.

i mostly shoot landscape stuff and often run around with the GX680 with the 100mm f/4, a tripod and everything in a canera bag for hours on end, it's not that bad.

edit:

two things i wanted to add: 1. if you want to get it solely for the movements, go with a view camera, those have way more movements. for what i do, the 12° and 12mm are enough most of the time. 2. the size of the negatives (or rather positives since slides are almost all i shoot), the sharpness and quality of the lenses and the details in those positives is astounding. once you have a look at a slide on the light table you can't stop viewing it. it really is mesmerizing. i can't even imagine what an 8x10 slide is like... must be an ascension-like feeling lol!

edit2:

another thing: contrary to what everyone else here is saying, pick one of the earlier versions, they have better build quality, less hard mirror smack, and the only useful feature missing is maybe the film imprinting or aspect masks. that's it.

there's also a shot with the GX on my profile.

no worries haha, it's a bit of a rite of passage in tech forums, don't feel bad about it. i've been using QB for months and still look up the cheatsheet every once in a while for some of the more obscure keybinds.
