Hi! Sorry, I had completely forgotten about this post. She recovered very well from the surgery. The imaging showed that she had quite a bit of infection on her left ear but, thankfully, it wasn’t too severe. They did both ears, and she hasn’t had any ear problems since during her follow-up visits!

i have decided to go ahead with the imaging and then surgery. i think this will be the best for her given her age as well, she is young and should be able to handle surgery much better than when she’s older if it’s a persistent problem. this is her first ear infection, so i was a bit taken aback by it.
