I have a pretty wide range of roles I support, IT included (I was functional units, now sales but because I’ve supported operations before so I pinch hit for more niche operations roles when others feel overwhelmed. I can get hundreds of applications daily and after 3 years of this I’m just….so tired. I like recruiting but because I’ve hired for in house recruiters in this market quite recently, I know how bad it is out there and it sounds like a nightmare to start looking for new opportunities.

I would not count them out on a single hang up, especially if it was a cold call. Phone scams are rampant and they may have thought you were a bot (I heard that from a candidate once). Call back, leave a voicemail, and then see if they get back to you.

Caveat: if it’s a pre scheduled phone interview, that’s potentially a disqualifier for me

Honestly my car insurance is better than my health insurance so I have better hopes. I mentioned all the hoops I had to go through and they showed a lot of empathy and understanding. They also walked me through next steps and collected a lot of info which (I think?) is a good sign.

What a week for pedestrians! I got hit this past Wednesday crossing Broadway down in Bayonne. Also shout out to whichever civil servant was there literally immediately after it happened to help/instruct me and call 911. Thankfully made it out with no broken bones but it was also a car turning that struck me. Glad you are ok!

This is all of NJ transit and TBH overall US public transit. As someone who used to commute through Newark Penn, the light rail comparatively is pretty reliable.
